"Just as the wave cannot exist for itself, but is ever a part of the heaving surface of the ocean, so must I never live my life for itself, but always in the experience which is going on around me.” - Albert Schweitzer

When posting a new thread, as you all may know, there is a notification at the top informing us that Bungie is no longer managing the Halo Universe. Just in case you are unsure of what I am talking about, here is what is written.

Bungie is no longer managing the Halo Universe. While our Halo-related forums and stats remain available, be advised that "official" answers and support about the Halo Universe (past, present, or future) are not.

Here is my idea.

New people join this website each and every day. Personally, when I sign up for a new website, it takes some time for me to learn the ropes. So, perhaps, when people go to create a new thread, a notification could actually pop up on the persons screen.

This way people could not continue on to making the thread without reading the notification first.

Either that, or make the notification at the top more noticeable e.g. make the text bold/red. I think that would make it much easier for members to see, and perhaps cutdown on the creation of threads in the incorrect forum.

Just an idea. Feel free to share your thoughts, and opinions.

:)

People will always make off-topic posts in the wrong forums, making a pop-up probably won't help too much.

Before you take this to anyone who can implement such alterations, I think it would be best to ask yourself if it is really that necessary.

My personal opinion is quite bland on this matter because I've tuned the message out. I saw it once and made a mental note, then proceeded to go about my normal business here on Bungie.net as usual.

However, it is possible that there are those who have an obsession with the strategic positioning of such things. If I were one of those people, I would probably think that this message would prove ultimately more beneficial as a massive, one time private message. That way everyone gets it once and will not be so vexed about it.

Is that what you were seeking?

I suppose that would make more sense, instead of receiving a pop up every time you posted.

Although, there are people who do not pay any attention to private messages. I feel like a pop up notification would be more visible, thus people might be more likely to read it.

Catch my drift?

:)

Every time i try to purchase something from the itunes store, i have to agree to the TOU/COC. Does this mean i read a single word? No. I just scroll down and click the 'ok' button.

He'd have instantly stopped and knelt down, one fist on the ground, hoping to be impervious to the officer's attacks. When this would have failed and he's in the back of the police car, he'd blame his predicament on his friends for not being team players.

Bungie isn't associated with Halo anymore?! Since when?!

Positive vibes.

Those are usually far more in-depth, and contain quite a bit of reading. Perhaps, since the message is not too long, and difficult to understand, newer members will be more inclines to read it.

With that said, this idea is mainly directed at newer members. Upon joining, they may be confused, and unsure where to post something. I believe a pop-up notification will help newer members to understand what/what not to post.

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

Possibly.

If there was a "Don't show me this again." to check, then sure. Seeing it only once should drop the amount of these threads.

Only regret is I didn't play more of it.
