The kiss asses show their true colors in threads like these. Should we take the time to count them?
Oh God the irony.

Wow.
Gamers can have intelligent discussions regarding economics and politics on a video game forum.

That gives me new hope for the human race.

So I'm a kiss ass because I think that there was definitely warrant behind the locking of the thread, though, personally, if in the same situation as the mod who did it, I wouldn't? Aight brah.

If it makes you sleep at night, dear.

I know now might not be the best time to petition for less ambiguity in the rules, however...
Don't worry, it's an even less appropriate time to explain why I don't like cricket, but, I'll still do that anyway.

Lol, have you watched 20/20 matches?

Then there are the people who poop in the mash potatoes. Those people get launched out on their asses.

Jeeze, do we need to lock this thread and hand out infractions to those who can't act responsibly?

Key

At the risk of being argued with by both sides of the conversation, I guess I'll explain my opinion on the matter a little more.

Part A) I think it was incredibly stupid that that thread got locked. As elmicker said, the majority of the thread was not political and 99% if not all of it was completely civil discussion in which even mods were participating in. I hope it was an accident and that it becomes unlocked so that discussion can continue as it was.

Part B) Keeping Part A in mind, I still get why a ninja would have locked it. That is to say, I can see where they'd be coming from if the lock was, in fact, intentional. A subject matter like that is, obviously and unavoidably, walking the line as far as being on the border between good spirited, friendly debate and political discussion (whether or not that's not the way it went).

Also, when looking at this situation you have to take into consideration that the rules are entirely subjective in almost every aspect and so the interpretations of them will vary, sometimes on a massive scale, from person to person and mod to mod. Some may say anything remotely political should be locked based on the OP and the title. Others may say "Wait and see where the responders of the thread take the conversation and whether or not they handle the subject matter maturely and legally."

There's also the possibility that Achronos was feeling especially evil tonight.

I see the thread is unlocked. Was this done by the locker, or another moderator? If the latter, I wonder if they would have to let the locker know...

Achronos- "Grumble grumble... Need coffee... WHO UNBANNED THAT THREAD???"
Urk- "I didn't do it!"
Jeremiah- "Me neither!"
Achronos- ".... STOOOOOOSSHHHHH!!!"

I'm glad I found this before I got to the end of the thread.

I can't say I really kept up with the thread in question, but I do agree with moderation being more...transparent I guess is the word I'm looking for.
That said, without even entering the thread, I can probably imagine why 'Your reaction on seeing meatspin' was locked.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

This thread is moot; the thread in question has been unlocked. As others have noted, it was probably a misclick from the report queue and the moderator who locked it has no idea that he or she even locked it in the first place.

It's a rare mistake, but definitely not the first time it has happened, folks... the misclick is easily fixed and there's no need to try to make this look like some kind of epidemic problem that doesn't really exist, even though that's the favorite activity of this forum.

Anyhoo, if you'd like to continue the discussion on cricket, feel free to take it to the Flood.
