hope they put the fuel rod gun in H2PC's multiplayer as well as the single-player. It's not as overpowered as the one in the first game, yet it's still good.

they should also give you an option of having all of the vehicles in a large map, like in H1, not like in xbox H2, where you can only choose one light and one heavy vehicle per map.

Halo 2 probably won't look as good as PO, but it will run better because its on Vista. Contrary to your beliefs, vista is not dos based, and it is almost totaly from scratch.

why do people keep saying "Vista doesn't use DOS".
Think about it;
DOS=Data Operating System
OS=Operating System
OS is just Data-Operating-System without the data, because basically all OS are just user friendly DOSs. And the comment on DOS being hacked is true, because DOS is (how can i put this?) naked/bare/raw data/(how i've put it right there) so you can get around sercurity and stuff. They can't make it from scratch because if they did, they would have to make a brand new DOS of it to run on, and DOS CAN'T BE REMADE.

Edit* and why do people say it will run better on Vista, Vista runs the computer, NOT the applications...

You have no idea what you are talking about. DOS stands for Disk Operating System. Windows was basicaly just a GUI for dos up till 98 or 2000. NT, XP and vista are not built upon DOS. They can emulate dos environments. An OS does run the applications. All applications go through the OS to be translated into something the hardware can understand and do. If the OS is slow, all your programs will be slow, and vice versa.

on the topic of hardware, I hope the Bungie people will have 1.1 pixel shader users in mind. very, very few games looked good on old pixel shaders, but it can be done.

Not to sound rude or anything of the sort, but please try to realize what you're discussing before debating it. I mean, really. It's a VERY basic question you're asking.

You basically rebuffed your own question there. Vista runs the computer, not the applications. The game doesn't run the processor directly, the game doesn't convert keyboard signals into actions the game utilizes, the game doesn't turn on the cooling fans when necessary and shuts them down, right? Same with resources such as DX10. The game doesn't directly control DX10. Processors, especially the newer ones, require the computer to more efficiently manage resources and tasks, therefore, a new OS helps the computer run more efficiently. Which is why you can't say you can run the game just as well on an older OS (or god forbid, NO OS) than a newer one.

How bout HDR and AA on lower resolutions? I agree that at 1600x1200 there isn't a need, but some people can't get those resolutions without horrible fps loss.

How bout 1024x768 or 800x600? There is a use for both at the same time.

For your information, the last Windows operating system to run on DOS was Windows ME. XP etc do not run on DOS - and neither will Vista. Try to contain your vivid imagination when talking about stuff you don’t understand.

Man, I'm going to have to get a new computer. F.E.A.R. at 1600x1200? HDR and anti-aliasing? My computer can barely handle a steady 30 fps at 640x480 with all visuals and sound on, without all that HDR and anti-aliasing and all that fancy stuff. I wish I had a system half as good as yours.

truely hardcore gamers like myself usually don't graduate from high school and thus end up with crappy jobs[/quote]

What? get your priorities sorted, if you're being "truly hardcore" at the expense of your education then don't you think it's time to put gaming to the side for a bit? you've got the rest of your life to play games.

No, video gamez is love ^_^. and don't worry, I'm graduating, it's just that I won't have the best high school transcript.

It's a good thing High school transcripts don't mean crap in the real world. All that matters is that you do your time and get a piece of paper from some college or university. Which school only matters if you plan on going for high-profile position or running for office. You learn very little in college too; most learning comes on your first job. I think the degree shows that you have the ability to learn and have the discipline to wait four years for something.

No but my point is that you guys are worrying about HDR and AA at such high resolutions when I along with many other Halo PC players have some really crappy cards. Nevermind. I can only hope to achieve that kind of visual bliss in the future.

Maybe you don't notice them, but there are alot of jagged edges on 800x600 and 1024x768. AA and HDR has its uses, whether you want to acknowledge them or not.

If you guys have ever played HL2 Lost Coast it demonstrates really well about HDR. The water looks like, well, water.
