...a LEAF blower. A leaf blower....

....

...wow...

...just...wow...

...how can your computer be that dusty? Dust doesn't do anything to affect ping increases or anything of the sort. Your mind simply tricks you since it's looking for something to show for all that effort of using the leaf blower on your computer. And besides, you can damage your computer with that sort of thing. Ever thought about using an aircan?

...I've heard about cleaning your computer, but...

A LEAF blower ... ROFLMAO ... ho boy that was a good one ... ROFL some more. Thats almost as funny as the guy that removed the side of his case and duct taped a 19" box fan to it to keep it cool. It worked but it was hilaruos.

Dust shouldn't be able to affect your ping HOWEVER if there is so much dust that it is blocking vents and airflow an overheating network card will give you fits.

Still ... a LEAF blower ROFLMAO

Leafblower....Are you living with the neighborhood cat-lady, or is your computer outside? Little extreme.

The most I've used is a vacuum cleaner: it just plain sucks.

hey whatever works ok? before my ping was in the 400 range, and I was suggested to blow out the dust, it works for me. just because it doesn't seem normal doesn't mean it won't work.

I took off the side cover and blew away, got every circuit board, fan, etc. It may seem like it's worthless, but after my ping dropping a lot, it works, my internet connects to web pages faster now, just a bit faster but it still helps.

Dust indirectly causes heat. An overheating NIC or CPU can certainly drop network packets. The theory that cleaning the dust out of a PC that is sorely overheating to improve it's performance, to a minimal extent usually, holds true.

At least he didn't use his woodchipper, eh?

But as you mentioned, to a minimal extent. I personally doubt that a computer would be covered with such a thick layer of dust that it would affect the cooling system and adversely cause the NIC/CPU to overheat. Unless the dust was literally a half an inch thick, perhaps maybe, MAYBE it would work.

Besides, blowing with a leafblower presents more a chance of bending pins and breaking stuff than it does a chance of cleaning the system.

Heh. I prefer to use my two trusty fists to...er..."clean" my computer when it doesn't work right.

lol

I have a friend who once used his right foot, which was well protected with his work boots, to "assist" his PC in realizing its own faults. Needless to say, it was considerably more faulty after that (read: broken video card)

Don't drink to excess– You might shoot at tax-collectors... and miss

A clean machine is a happy machine.

I've often heard it said by "experts" that this or that procedure has no effect... but found plenty of people who thought it did, (just look at vitamins and the lack of hard research backing up their use).

Dust certainly is not good for a computer, and I doubt that air will hurt it, so go to it. But personally, I'd use a can of compressed air.

kind of like those for the keyboards, yeah I can use that, it's affordable and it doesn't go as fast as a 140 mph leaf blower

I don't plan on damaging my beautiful Sony Vaio with a leaf blower, but i have noticed my ping insanely high also. I'm going to start playing on safe mode or try to join games with low ping.
