Is it?

I started on Friday, and I got through both The Pillar of Automn and Halo. Now I'm on The Truth and Reconciliation, and I'm at the gravity lift. It's pretty tough, but not impossoble; and it'll take a few tries to get passed it. But I was wondering if anybody struggles through it like me.

P.S. It's my first time through Legendary, and I just beat Heroic on Friday. It is also single player.

Ya at first it's hard but after your first time of beatting it it's a lot easier. Don't worry you'll beat it, I thought I never would but now I won't play it in anything but legendary.

Scottish and stereotyped

Frankie, you will be usurped!

Don't worry...when you complete it and play it again, your next objective will be to bring through at least 1 marine from the ordeal :) Also a tip:

The faster you get rid of the grunts/jackals by running over to doors and taking them out, the less chance of gold elites.

Ah yes, the old gravity lift. I remember playing through that part the
first time on Legendary. The way I did it was working with the sniper
rifle until I could pick off the elites and a few grunts and jackals, and
nading the rest. Now I usually only die a couple of times on that part.
(I'm not that great) It just takes time to get used to it.

P.S.
Just for kicks, go to HBO and watch Mike Miller's Legendary
movies. They are seriously awesome.

OK it is normal to struggle at that part, personally I think the grav lift is the hardest part in the game. You don't even get a checkpoint between waves and waves of those bastards. After that the next level will be a breeze, try and see if you can save all the marines on the beach. AotCR isn't too hard, but once you get to 2 betrayals and on, it will get hard again.

ahhh, the good old grav lift, i still have a score to settle with the gold elites, poor jenkins, i just couldnt save him...... anyway its perfectly normal to struggle, alot, and to throw your controlller against the floor in rage when you killed by a single needle from the last grunt in a long tedious area like the grav lift. stick through it and youll look back and laugh about it in the future when your so good you laugh at elites instead of soiling yourself in their presence.

Ya, T&R is the hardest level by far I think. If you are at the lift, you still have a ways to go. Get ready for lots and lots of frustration, but don't give up.

It's normal. I had a real hard time on T&R my first time on Legendary. I would suggest that since it is your first time that you use a plasma pistol in place of the AR. Then, once you can go through Legendary smoothly, bring the AR back. You'll be able to go through the game with a completely human arsenal.

If you're feeling crazy as soon as you get past the grav lift and into the ship...well there's an active camo behind one of the crates. You can sneak around and melee all the elites in the back. But if you miss the gold elite (ie - you hit him but not kill him) he'll turn around and slice you real quick.

join a lot of hard games on xbc, then play on campaign, seriously, it makes legendary about 10 times easier than it was before

I'll pass on XBC. Pack of cheaters they are.

I'll have to use the Plasma Pistol, I guess. I hate using Covenant weapons for some reason, but if it's going to dramatically help me win I guess I can use them. Feels like I'm betraying my comrades and everything that I'm standing for when I use those plasma weapons. Those damn Covenant bastards! Though I've killed too many enemy platoons to count, they've killed so many hours of my time. Damn you, Covenant!

yeah, Tru7h and Recon. is a tough one in Legendary. And the grav lift is prol'y the worst it gets, too. It'll take ya a few tries to get the first time through. But eventually, you'll tear through the Covies without losing a single bar of health. Then you'll play it again, trying to keep all your Marine buddies alive...(if you're anything like me that is)

Any way you slice it though, Legendary is no cake-walk, no matter how good you claim to be. Theres always a certain unpredictablity about those tricksy Elites and thier double-backflip-grenade-dodging and plasma sword swinging craziness

Yeah. The first time I did the grav lift it took me like a whole day to manage it (Yeah, I know...). But the second time I did it, I got through it like the 4th time and I even saved Sgt. Johnson!

T&R: dont lose your sniper rifle for ANY reason (unless you have keyes following you and taking care of the 3 camo elites in the control room), plasma pitol, who needs it? i just used the assult rifle (and a LOT of stickys)

Gold Elites are not hard. One charged shot with the plasma pistol and finish him off with anythign else you have.

Apparently it's hard the first time. After beating Legendary like it's Easy, the only challenge left for you is multiplayer.

I have to agree with everyone else here. The first time I played through legendary it felt really tough. I can't count how many times I had to do "belly of the beast". After you get through the game once though you start to learn how to do things.

Once, when I was finished with the grav-lift room, there was only one spot of human blood on the floor, mine from when a Jackal OCed me. Once you're good enough, saving all the marines really doesn't seem so daunting anymore. The first time I saved all 5, I was up dancing and cheering. Now, I know to just wait by the door as it opens and kill what's immediately in front of me. Sometimes that gold Elite will smack me before I get 3 rounds in him, but that's not very often.

It is very normal to struggle on Legendary at first especially in single player where no one is watching your back.
