Subject: Are BoBs Ossoona?

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

I was under the impression that BoBs were randomly generated easter eggs and were a reference to the Marathon series.

They are, but I'm putting them in canonwise context.

Canon-wise they wouldn't be that role either as members of that role simply didn't break stealth...

Some Bobs openly charge and attack you. (sword base ones, the one in tip of the spear with a fuel rod gun.)

But they do break stealth now. Games>All as far as canon goes, so if that's how they act in the games then it overrides what we know about them from the novels.

However BoBs are all easter eggs. And thus non-canon.

Literally the only 'BoB' that could be considered a canon Ossoona is the one at the start of legendary WC.

No, they're canon, since they pose questions in-game that were being discussed at the time on Reach.

But then shouldn't BOBs be canon as well despite being the same kind of "Easter Egg"?

They are two entirely different types of easter egg.

One is of a GOLDEN elite ranger who suddenly appears, might attack, might not, then runs away and disappears (white and duel wielding plasma rifles for sword base).

One is of data pads in the map containing information.

Which official statement from 343 or Bungie drew a line on the Easter Eggs and declared which ones were canonical and which were not?

Sigh, I don't think there is an offical declaration.

However, the data pads are like the terminals, not really easter eggs and more like side things to find.

BoBs are pure easter egg.

I believe the Halo 3 monkey family is in the same class as the data pads and terminals. Half naked floating guy is debatable.

Not really your place to say is it? Until Bungie or 343 comments on it I can believe what I'd like without any argument to the contrary good sir.

Ah yes, monkeys are of the same caliber as, you know, actual canon elements. Excuse me while I laugh at such stupidity.

Monkeys aren't canon in the Halo universe? So humans do not exist? Brutes do not? You're right, that's just stupid.

Terminals and data pads aren't easter eggs. The monkey family, BoBs, and such are.

Terminals and data pads give canon information, the other is an intentional joke for lulz.

So funny how your trying to justify an obvious Easter egg as being equal with actual canon elements.

So funny how you post on this forum at all.

But srsly, BOBs could very well be Ossoona.

All others? No way.

They come now... and they take us... the tide rises.

Ahm... sorry... BoBs are... what?

United Armed Forces

No, Ossoonas are completely trained in stealth. They'd be nowhere near the fighting. (sans our two friends in The Flood)

I wouldn't roll out all possibilities, is likely? No. Is there some evidence indicating that it could be? Sure.

I think the first spec op elite on WC would more likely be an Ossoona, some BoBs attack you, that one doesn't, it has Active Camo and BoBs don't, it is a spec ops and the BoBs are rangers in GOLD armour (not very stealthy) plus it had a Data Pad on it so that fits the description of Ossoona more than BoBs.

That specific Elite is also not listed in the BOB spawns.

Your friendly and eccentric Sangheili forum-poster. :)

I'm pretty sure that an Ossoona would be wearing dark armour, kind of like what the Spec Ops teams wear, and would be using active camouflage. BoBs are just easter eggs, although if they were to have a rank, I'd say it would have to be either Major Ranger or Zealot Ranger.
