yes i know console enabling tutorials in the stickie post, but theres one thing that they didnt tell us that were able/not able to do...

ok, so i enabled the console today, and it works fine, but it only works when i click the shortcut on my desktop to play halo, i was puzzled so i went back to the tutorials and found out that if you enable the console, you can only make it work if you click the shortcut to play, if you click "play game" on the splash screen, the console wont show. does anyone know how to make console work for both shortcut and halo splash screen?

thank you in advance

Although we get your problem, TMH is right. It is a shortcut after all.

technically the splash screen is faster than shortcut, when u pop in the halo cd, it comes right up

and i know it doesnt make a difference, but i was wondering if theres a way to enable console through splash screen, so it could make my life easier

Hm...I'm not sure I quite follow. The target shouldn't be shortcut exclusive, it should work for all aspects of the program. I mean, you are modifying the target of the shortcut, meaning that you're not modifying the shortcut itself, but rather the entire executable file itself. Are you sure the console doesn't work through the splash?

No you can't you can edit the command line in the shortcut but I don't think you can in the splash screen.

Here's how I make my life easier. The Halo CD never leaves the CD drive, if I want to watch a DVD or play another game I use the DVD drive.

Does it really matter? Why not just open halo the normal way, with the shortcut? You don't need to launch the autoplay every time you want to play.

The splash screen would require you to re-compile the whole CD anyway.

Get over it and use the icon.

when you edit the command line and put -console at the end, you're only editing that part. the splash screen runs it off the disc which you have not edited and cannot edit. the only way to do it is through the shortcut. i ran into this when i first enabled mine, although i boot my game from a virtual drive which always stays mounted so it was easie for me to use the shortcut.
