Pistol works wonders, just not at the nose. AR works too if they're close enough, but if you have neither, use rockets or shotgun. In shorter terms, use only human weapons.

No, but seriously, the physics in Halo: Combat Evolved are messed up.

Like it's strange how you can fire a Scorpion tank and move when you press E but you're not in the cockpit yet, or how you can fire the warthog's chain gun when you're not standing in the gunner seat but you pressed the action button. This is why I have such high hopes for Halo 2 PC, because there'll be no more banshee noobs trying to run you over, or at least they won't be as much of a nuisance, and if they do touch you it won't always be a stupid instant kill, your shields will go down. I'm also looking forward to the ragdoll physics. Have you guys ever seen a dude's body die near the edge of a cliff, for example? And you see his arms dangling way down than should be possible? That is really messed up and makes for some awkward positions, which I hope will be done away with in H2PC.

Basically H2PC=better physics. Hopefully.

Go with shotguns and pistols for shees. Try to stick them with plasma grenades if they try to ram you.

I was hosting a H2 Lanparty a few months ago and we were playing team slayer on Elongation, when the guy next to me, who was on one of the platforms, was killed. His body did a faceplant....through the deckplate, down to the lower floor.... then, through the lower floor and out into space.

He had betrayed someone earlier, so his respawn time was pretty high, and his body just went nuts in the "vacuum," it was twisting, flipping, distorting and all kinds of interesting things and making funny sounds for about 20 seconds.

the pistol works well, espicially if they have no shields. if ur playing with no shields, even tanks are easy.

Although Halo 2 has more realistic physics than Combat Evolved I can't help but laugh when the bodies get all distorted. I never knew the human body could be twisted that way. It's also funny how bodies float in mid-air a foot off the ground, but they're facing downwards.

The best way to SHOOT down banshees is to use a shotgun or a plasma rifle and pistol combo. For a shotgun, one or two shots into the underbelly of the banshee at close range should do the job. The plasma rifle has a slight stun when it hits the enemy making it harder for them to drive and shoot. Once you see thier shields flash, pummel the banshee with the pistol while remembering that the underbelly is the weakest spot. I hope these tips help you :D.

I would have to say the tank or the needler.

Dude, the needler is the worst weapon in the game. Either that or the assault rifle.

I disagree, the needler is tied bottom with the plasma pistol. I actually prefer the needler because of the pink splodes.

Also, if used right, the banshee is an EXCELLENT cousin of the ghost. Just remember that a ghost HOVERS ABOVEGROUND, not BURYING ITSELF INTO THE MUD!

A better analogy would be the retarded purple cousin of the hog.

Pistol/shotgun/sniperrifle.

The Lag gun on the back of a Warthog is a real killer for Banshee's. The only problem is finding one.Even if you don't have a driver, a Shee pilot will be suprised about the considerable amount of damage the Lag makes. Also, the Lag has a long range, so if a Shee's tring to run away, you can usualy shoot them down. Oh, and there's another advantage, it annoys the living $h!t out of the shee pilot. :-)

true, but if the banshe pilot is really good, he might fire a fuel rod cannon from afar, and land directly on your hog then flip it, and you get some considerable amount of damage put into you too. and while trying to flip the hog and get back into it, youre a living target for the plasma turrets mounted on the shee...

but if youre planning to shoot a shee down, IMO, dont let anyone drive your LAAG (btw, its LAAG not LAG...lol) because while in motion, your LAAG turret wont even be able to aim at a foot soldier. so just stand back, relax, aim, and spray and pray (pray that the shee pilot wont be able to flip you over).

the worst weapon has to be the assault rifle.

ever needled someone in confined quarters, at close range?

it works GOOD!! they can't dodge the needles, and you can fill em up with your whole clip, then backpedal and watch em explode.

excessive needlerization!!

on topic post first...
my best way to shoot down a banshee is with a scorpion's main gun, if it's avaliable, seriously, you take some practice with it and you'll have no problem shooting down banshees
if a scorp isn't avaliable, like some peopl have said already, use the machine gun on the back of the regular hog, i've learned that it is a great way to gun down banshees, just don't let people drive it, at that makes it very hard to hit it

secondly, i've learned to love the assault rifle, as it's very reliable for me in many situations, and saved me many times,(one example in mp is when me and a enemy where using our human pistols, he shot down my shield, i got down behind a hill, then, when he started to come over i blasted him apart with my assault rifle, so, when used correctly it can be very useful) my opinion of the worst weapon for multiplayer would have to be either the needler or plasma pistol, as the needler's shots aren't very hard to dodge in multiplayer, same with the plasma pistol's overcharge shot

Yes, but you see what I mean? It is the worst weapon because its a weapon of last resort.

So maybe the needler isn't the worst weapon but it isn't the best, either.

Needler: With six needles in them, it’s like dropping a weak plasma grenade onto your opponents head. The more needles you hit them with the greater the explosion. They go boom and die. Add to that, it is the only weapon in Halo PC multiplayer whose shots track the target. Great weapon right? It has drawbacks.
1.Slow round speed makes needles easy to dodge.
2.See 1.
3.See 1 and 2.
4.Slowest melee of all the weapons; even the rocket launcher packs a quicker punch. Dirty trick for needlers is to point at an AFK (Away From Keyboard) player in a cluster of the enemy and unload the entire clip. It’s like dropping a plasma right in the center, but only if everyone stays near their AFK friend.
This quote was taken from Minus Sign, in "Tactics and Tips for Multiplayer" under Halo multiplayer in "The Guides" sticky.

hmm, you have a point there about the assault rifle Master Kim, though a last resort weapon isn't always a bad weapon, i must admit myself that i'll use other weapons if i find it better for that map or that game type

Thus, I rest my case. This is the only part where I feel Bungie really messed up in gameplay, that and the needler.

Get behind the banshee with a shotgun and fuel rod gun when in cloak you can wait until the person gets in then when they are gonna take off use the shotgun to hurt the pilot if your quick enough as they are flying away use a rocket to finsh the pilot and banshee.

One thing bugs me about everyone hating the assault rifle, mainly because everyone likes playing mostly on big maps. The AR usage should be the same as the shotgun: very effective at close ranges, and much less useful at a distance. The AR for example gets me many more kills in slayer (both FFA and Team) in small maps than the pistol. It's also very good against vehicles at close range - the best example I can remember is once I ran out of BG base right into the back of an enemy on a rocket hog turret. I switched to AR and unloaded an entire clip at point blank range, and killed him- had I kept to pistol and gone for a triple-headshot I would almost certainly have died. Same with banshees @ close range.

The AR is just a less effective shotgun, really. Use when you can't get headshots.
