Subject: Regarding Halo Waypoint and the Reach Forum

I have noticed that Halo Waypoint is slowly gaining in popularity, however the community is split between this website and the forums at Waypoint. This is not good.

Anyway, I would just like to know why the Halo Reach Forum still exists. A lot of people still don't understand that their voice is not heard there.

Have you discussed this with 343i?

  • 10.13.2011 10:31 PM PDT

It will likely disappear at some point, redirecting to Waypoint forums.

  • 10.13.2011 10:33 PM PDT

Relax. I'd rather not piss this thing off.

-Master Chief

Im sure when there new game is released the Halo forums may hit the History books.

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

I'd imagine its days are numbered. I don't know any more than you of course, but I suspect its still there solely so that Reach discussion doesn't bleed out on to the other forums. Sort of a "catch-all", like the Flood is for non-Bungie related discussions. We still seem to need the Reach forum to corral all the Reach discussion.

  • 10.13.2011 10:39 PM PDT

We miss you Logan.
Ask any question. I'll help with anything on site or off.

Maybe users are getting the point. They finally finding out bungie can't do anything about reach.

Good Point. Imagine the mayhem if the Flood all started discussing Reach!

I wish Bungie could do something. 343 sucks at maintaining their website. I can't post jack because Windows Live login is a POS. Also, there's no login on the HOME PAGE! Every other website on the internet does this.

I also maintain that Chrome is weaksauce, and IE9 is fast and works very well

The Halo Reach Forum can still be used to discuss the game. People should know that suggestions won't exactly make a difference in the Halo Reach Forum with the "Bungie is no longer managing the Halo Universe" message you get when posting.

In some cases I have seen people post their thread in both forums, simply so they can get some different opinions.

Others just prefer Bungie's forums, like myself.

Relax, it's a beta.

Is it me, or have people been raging at betas recently? (Halo Waypoint, GoW3, Bf3...?)

I thought people loved GoW3 Beta. Other wise people have been raging at open betas during this year.

I hope they don't get rid of the Reach forum. I will still be playing it for a long time. I know 343i has Reach but Bungie made the game and I like it here! I don't want to move to 343i waypoint forums to talk about Reach! I am entrenched here! lol!

Never give up, never surrender!

I'm of the understanding that it will remain here because it was a game that Bungie made. It's part of Bungie's history. You can't simply erase history.

Besides, they've made it quite clear that any update suggestions should be made on Waypoint.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
And the Science gets done.
And you make a neat gun.
For the people who are still alive.

I assume it's still there because Bungie developed the game. Just because they're not in charge of future titles doesn't mean they have to give up everything they've created.

Halo: Reach is still a part of Bungie, even if it has been taken over by 343i.

In all honesty, the Reach forum doesn't even discuss Reach. It has turned into a complaint ridden, pick on all posters, troll fest made up of newly formed accounts and members. The Reach forum really needs to go. I remember when you could ask a question to the forum members and you would actually get a NICE response to your question. Those days are long gone now.

Yeah, I'm sure you're right. But it is still a Bungie game. I bet the number is still pretty high.

"You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space." -Johnny Cash

I posted something along the lines of what you're saying a while ago, and the responses were basically saying that Bungie made the game, so the forum/s should still be up for discussion purposes.

True, beta rage seems to be much higher than usual. I get more frustrated with 343 because I visit that site frenquently. On the topic of game betas, people are probably more vocal about them because they are the betas of highly acclaimed games and failed to deliver what was promised. BF3's beta was, in my opinion, absolutely terrible, but that's what you get when EA is in charge. In all honesty, EA is terrible when servers are involved.

The forum layout and stringency at waypoint needs some help. I just like to go to the Reach forum here to talk about the game with the other regulars. We know 343i is not reading it.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Yeah I wish it would corral people but we still get spammed with "give me flames" threads.

Why wouldn't they? It's just another channel for community feedback.

PS
No, I do not want to join your clan/group.

While I know I won't get any official answers on the Reach forums and that 343i won't read any feedback I leave here, I prefer the Bnet Halo forums because we have a bit more freedom.

I don't feel like the Waypoint environment is conducive to good discussion because the moderators are too anxious to ban people; I understand that they don't want the place to be overrun with as many trolls as Bnet has, but they tend to go overboard in axing legitimate discussions and banning people for ridiculous reasons (and insane ban lengths of 100+ years in some cases).

When their staff learns to relax and let discussions happen naturally, then I'll visit Waypoint more often. As it stands currently, if I posted half as much there as I do here, in the same general tone/manner, I have an uneasy feeling that I would be banned inside of 72 hours.

Of course, I'll never leave Bnet completely; I have more loyalty to Bungie itself than the Halo franchise at this point.

I don't think the general fanbase quite gets that idea.

Why even Bungie, until somewhat recently, didn't use or view Bnet as their main source of community feed back until recent years. Mainly because there existed a fair number of pretty popular fan sites with forums, not to mention other forums of note where gaming discussion would take place. Sites Bungie still closely analyzes and interacts with.

While 343i will never use the Bnet Halo forums to interact with the community in any official capacity, they are still most certainly reading the feedback there, and perhaps even participating in discussion incognito with regular user accounts.
