Subject: Regarding Halo Waypoint and the Reach Forum

We were somewhere around Barstow...

I still think a solitary Halo forum should be preserved.

  • 10.14.2011 9:46 AM PDT

I think the activity from both studios, on both websites has been exceptional over the course of the last month or so.

Socially, I think both studios are doing a great job with interacting with their fan-bases. 343 could use some aid regarding design, layout, and functionality (they don't have an Achronos nor his Droid army) , but for the most part each of the respective forum factions exist under one community banner - HALO.

I see the same folks at any number of community based Halo websites.

Arguably, Bungie invented the "gaming community feedback system" thing we all take for granted these days, it'll take some time for everyone else to get up to speed.

So far 343 has been replying, but the problem is that the majority of the so called "fanbase" is residing in this forum.

The real test will come when the actual forums are released, when Halo CEA comes out.

It will also be the case that when Halo 4 comes out, they will be people who claim only Bungie can make Halo games.

At least a Bungie Employee responded on my thread...

Oh hey there

It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

I'd imagine its days are numbered.
I don't know about that. The Halo CE forum is still here and it came out over 10 years ago. Why wouldn't the forum remain 10 years from now for people who take a frolic through Reach and want to discuss it with other Bungie members who also played it?

I reckon after Halo:Anniversary is released and the Waypoint forums leaves its beta stages the Reach forum will be shifted there.

Nope. You'll always find a clean, well lit space to discuss the games we made on Bungie.net.

Best of random chance

With all the threads about "Bungie's Next Game" you might as well make that forum now.

Then why is there no Marathon forum? Why?

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I suppose. Until then, we do as we've been doing.

You can discuss all of our legacy games in the Universe forum. There's just not enough traffic to warrant full forums for each title. Reach doesn't have that issue. :)

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

The Universe is for discussing the story, but what about gameplay discussions?

It does, but it's not "official" and is not in the drop-down bar.

And the Shadow fell upon the Land, and the World was riven stone from stone. The oceans fled, and the mountains were swallowed up, and the nations were scattered to the eight corners of the World. The moon was blood, and the sun was as ashes. The seas boiled, and the living envied the dead. All was shattered, and all but memory lost, and one memory above all others, of him who brought the Shadow and the Breaking of the World. And him they named Dragon.

Ah, the ambiguities of English...
