The Forerunner, the Great Journey, and Heaven Theory

[Announcement Trailer] Halo: Forerunner

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

The "No spam" rule has long been an object of contention here at B.net. While it's very easy to read the rule and get a grasp on what's expected of you, Below you'll find a few examples of what the term "spam" refers to. Keep in mind that this list is not complete and the Bungie.net Moderators have the authority to determine whether a post violates the "no spam" rule or not.

- Special characters, all-caps usage and attention-grabbing characters are all prohibited.
- Threads that only require a one-liner reply such as a number or rank.
- Misleading links.
- ASCII art.
- Petitions.
- Posts in any language other than readable and intelligible English.
- "Bumping" a thread solely to bring it back to the top of the forum.
- Creating pointless threads as part of a "mass" or "organized" spam attack.
enforcement of this rule widely varies. While it would be unreasonable to expect uniformity in moderation in regards to this issue, the moderation behavior is still extremely important. How moderators decide to handle posts that fit these qualifications gives guidelines to other users as to how they should behave.

With that being said, then, I'm confused as to how this behavior was tolerated.
Example 1.
Example 2.
Example 3.

In these three threads (made over the course of six days; only because the OP was banned for a short period of time in between them) the OP readily admits that 1. He does not care about discussing the issue and 2. he will not stop posting about the issue until he gets an "official" response. This behavior qualifies as spam - there is no question. What is worse is that this user is putting a demand on the community and Web Team; "Give me attention or else!". What I am confused about is why this person isn't banned and why his most recent topic (the THIRD ATTEMPT) is not locked?

By allowing the behavior to go unpunished the moderation team has set a dangerous precedent. They have essentially given their consent to making multiple threads ad nauseam until you get the responses you desire. Imagine what the community would be like if everyone did this.

I look forward to an "official" response on this topic. If I don't get it I assume I'll just have to make this thread again tomorrow. And the next day. And the next day...

I'm not really sure why nothing was done about the blatant use of reposting the same exact thread just for attention. When is it alright to do that? Obviously, it is okay when the OP is rude to everyone in the thread every time he posts a repeat thread. Also, the thread must not have any changed content...

“Dinkleberg!” is a catchphrase used by the character Dad in the Nickelodeon cartoon show “The Fairly Odd Parents.” In the show, Dad has an unrelenting hatred towards the well-to-do and happy neighbor, Dinkleberg, who gets blamed for everything bad that happens. The phrase is used in a similar way, by giving the blame for everything bad that happened to Dinkleberg. This can vary from mundane day-to-day problems to natural disasters.

I was kinda annoyed when I saw the thread a third time, and even more annoyed when Achronos posted and it wasn't locked.

δόξει τις ἀμαθεῖ σοφὰ λέγων οὐκ εὖ φρονεῖν.

Euripides, Bacchae. 480.

As stated before, the moderators act on a whim. This affair is further proof, though no iteration of the thread should have been locked in the first place.

Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

The mods aren't a hive mind.

They all have different judgements.

While it would be unreasonable to expect uniformity in moderation in regards to this issue, the moderation behavior is still extremely important. How moderators decide to handle posts that fit these qualifications gives guidelines to other users as to how they should behave.

Are you trying to tell me that you're not patient enough to read five very short paragraphs?

Hey, at least your teacher has an easy time grading your material... All they need to do is write "F" on everything.

Also, the big problem that I see is that the mods don't have that kind of stuff at their fingertips - unless they want to really work fo their volunteer work....

Which is why a place for members entire rap sheets would be great.

This is a good way to get us on your side. Pointlessly insulting members will get you a long way. Stop.

OT: I don't know why its not locked. Presumably because the ninjas figured that since Tom posted, perhaps there was something to discuss in it. Or none of us bothered to read it since we say the Septagon. Or, it didn't bother whoever did read it. I can't honestly speak for them, so I'm going to stop speculating.

I don't think this sets any kind of precedence either. Sometimes things get through the cracks. This would have been more productive if you had just PMed a ninja instead of exaggerating not only the offense, but the connotation as to why it wasn't locked.

Though, I don't know, maybe there is something to discuss here.

The point is more of why is posting the same exact thread three times within a week okay when clear opinions were already given the first two times?

Why? Because the user got seven pages worth of responses to his topic, but he continued to add pointless +1's to his thread without adding to the discussion, bumping the thread for his hopes that an employee would post in it. He continued to create the same thread until an employee posted in it, sounds to me like he just wanted the attention. He even admitted to not caring about the topic.

I hate when people do that.

But, the reason all 3 weren't locked was becuase there were different mods watching the forums at the time.

And different mods have different opinions and interpretations about the rules.

I completely understand your point, and maybe it's not fair, but making a -blam!- topic about it...?

If this was done on The Flood or Reach forum, no one would care, but it gets done on this forum and everyone raises hell over it. Is it just the way this forum's community is?

I'm blown away that it has come to this.

And you can claim that how? Do you keep track of when every mod is on? I've seen all three iterations of this thread be on the main page... I doubt there is a mod that didn't see at least two.

Edit: It's funny, because Duardo posted in two of those threads... So, looks like you're a tad wrong.
