With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

While I can understand the desire, I think that it's not a feature that would be valuable.
Part of the reason that I would lean towards "no thanks" is that I've come to see a division in perception when it comes to threads.
Many people are of the opinion that if they create a thread that they "own" it. Not everyone does, and it varies as to degrees of "ownership". I have seen people be rude to other members and post things like "If you don't agree with me get out of MY thread!".
Now, I do agree that thread creators do have some responsibility. In many cases, they can help guide and steer conversation, not by directly telling people what to do, but by their involvement and interaction on the active discussion.
But the fact is that as soon as anyone hits the "submit" button, that thread is not theirs, it is Bungie's and the communities. Bungie really owns it, and is granting equal access to all members.
I know that there is (and can be) a measure of pride in creating a large, popular, successful or even a stickied thread. It's not a bad thing, and it is human nature. But that sense of "ownership" does have its drawbacks. Just look at how many repeat topics we have in the various forums. I think that is partly the lack of a search feature, even more a matter of laziness, and mostly a matter of someone's ego wanting to see "their thread" on the page instead of "adding their post to someone else's thread" which I guess is somehow not as desirable.
Shai, I am not accusing you (or anyone in particular) of that, but to some degree or another, we all do it. Giving topic creators the ability to lock would further reinforce that feeling of "ownership" and I would be concerned that we would have a lot more of "get out of my thread" and other territorial pissing contests.
... Get out of my thread :-P
Just joking. But I do understand where you are coming from, and perhaps you are right. I am, once again, overestimating the maturity level of forum members as a whole. There would be too many people who would abuse such a privilage.
