So the thought occurred to me, did any of the covenant join willingly?
I know the Jiralhanae possibly did cause they were heading toward self extinction between the tribes. So they were happy to be told what to do, and told to go savage for a purpose in their god's names.
The Yanme'e hives certainly seem to be loyal but then in evolutions with the murders forced to work...
The San 'Shyuum somehow got in charge possibly by just being nearer more forerunner tech by them being put under personal protection of the Librarian. But that's for another day
The Huragok were made by the forerunners and on threat of death enslaved to the covenant. They do like to build things but you get stuff like Virgil who hate being part of so many massacres.
The Sangheili seem happy enough but with The Duel in Halo Legends there are those that follow only so that they can survive due to their culture being disrupted confirmed in the recent Grasslands excerpt.
For the rest, in halo 2 they mention there was a "taming of the hunters" and a "grunt rebellion". I can only imagine that the Kig-yar are just psychopathic little bastards as they appear to be and in Halo 2 when we saw them held in cages, like... really? That doesn't seem like they want to be there. Or maybe they're just so nasty those are their quarters.
Does anyone have anything against what I'm saying or is this just obvious, which i think it could be, but it's never discussed really.
