The Arbiter levels have always been my least favorites, mainly due to the fact that most of them are flood oriented, and they are darn hard on Legendary with certain skull combos. In particular is the elevator of doom, where you have no few places to run and fewer places to hide. I finally think I may have found a decent way to get past it with Black Eye going.

The descent of the elevator is surrounded by the pods of infection spores that are removed from their cradles on occassion and placed on the platform. The other structures are the key. There are flat spots that the flood jump from when they are not climbing walls, in tiers of three. The key to making it past this area of the map with Black Eye active is once the initial platform is clear, to immediately head for the edge of the platform and jump down to the lowest of the three ledges. Once there, you will be out of harms way for a bit.

The next step is to go even lower! There is a set of spawn points for the flood. If you move towards the center of the lowest ledge you will see below you two vertical rises of block, with a pathway between them. Jump down onto the top of the block rise, then off to the base of the spawn cave. Once there you are almost safe. You gotta have an energy sword with you since you are in a flood spawn point and iwll have more than six visitors and you need to dust them asap to conserve your sheilds as there is nothing to melee for health for quite a while. The elevator will descend below you and you can snipe the remaining flood on the platform. Once it is clear you can jump down, it looks like a leap of death, but as long as you dont miss you are fine, even iwth no shields and that annoying beeping going off, the jump will not kill you.

Been doing a skull run lately, active are: Sputnik, Catch, Envy, GBP, Black Eye. Cairo was amazingly easy with this combo as I have found some new long range shooting spots that keep your hide from getting tanned as bad, plus just more patient. Outskirts is always one of my faves, and this combo works great until ghosts start showing up, then it is a matter of having sniper/beam rifle as your weapons to take the fuel tanks out from waaaaaaaaaaaaay away. Metropolis was dicey, all those darn ghosts, but I got some lucky shots in. Rather than trying to blow up incoming ghosts, just blow them off the bridge. Oh, and by the way, the light poles, lane gates and truck bodies can be melee'd for health, so when your aim sucked like mine did and enough ghosts get through, you still can recharge shields. I never knew those could be melee'd, probably the last to know.

Have fun!

Personally, I hate Sentinels more than Flood.

Can you get a video? I got down differently.

Indeed, those skulls make it really fun (except for Catch, because they're awful good at getting sticks). Black Eye is at it's best in this game.

Shooting spots?

That may work for the Ghosts, but that won't work for the Banshees (their fire will cripple your shields in seconds). To deal with those flying beasts, you gotta hijack them. IIRC, turning on Mythic skull makes no substantial impact and their health is quite resilient on Legendary.

I watched sliding ghosts video, very interesting approach! He had assassins active which makes things more difficult as teh sentinels only have you to shoot at, unless you light up the flood. He did not have BE going, and the difference is that you cannot stay on the ledges and wait for the elevator to go through its paces to the bottom, eventually the sentinels find you and their beams rip you a new one and you cannot cloak or hide enough to last, even with full overshields. That is why I had to find a different place.

At 3:55 of his video, he is looking away from the platform and down the inside view of the ledges, if you look down, you will see the structures and "Cave" I am referring to. By jumping lower, you can get close enough to drop down on top of it and get out of the way of the sentinels and flood around the platform, just having to deal with the spawners that will find you, in groups. Fun stuff to take them out without losing any shield. I do not have the ability to record, sorry for poaching off his great work, but it helps to show my point. Nice job Ghost!

The skull combo you chose is a great combo, fun. I tend to agree with what you've said and I've tried using that spot for SLASO but failed.

Problem is I can't get the elevator to go down unless I stay up higher. I have yet another spot but BE is a killer but you must kill in order to make the elevator go down. One way or another you have to fight. As you said, the flood and Sentinels will not fight unless you have enough ammo but you can't see enough Flood from down there. I think maybe the only way to do it SLASO is up higher like SlidingGhost.

However, I would recommend your spot for people who hate that fight, even without any skulls on.

Thanks! You're right, it would be difficult to avoid the Sentinels if Armory was on. I'm currently working on Uprising so it will be a while before I do the hell ride with Armory on.

Cave as in the area where the Flood begin their climbing ascent? Do the Flood jump off to their deaths?

That's not a problem. I often use other people's videos when I don't have access to the game (i.e. Halo 3). Thanks!!

I thought going back on the elevator is what makes it to go down.

P.s. when you are going to reply to my YouTube messages I sent you? I had to reveal the video publicly because it's too exciting to be hidden.

Well, for me at easier difficulties I don't have to get on the lift at all so I'm not so sure either way. SLASO is different.

OK, I responded, my live mail was not working for a while.

Yes it is different.

Also, I've finished my testing on Uprising and Great Journey. Now I'm going to be away from Halo 2 for a while.

Thanks for taking a look.

Howdy Guys!

I do not have the Armory skull going, but the sentinels and flood do find you if you stay put on any ledge near the level of the platform.

The way to get the platform moving down is to make sure that you have killed all of the initial flood lurking on it from the doorway to the platform area BEFORE you have made the jump to the ledge and down to the flood cave. Once the new flood start to spawn and jump onto the platform, as long as you do not have Assassins on, the battle between the flood and sentinels will get the descent started after a few minutes.

The flood that spawn during the descent will come into the cave in two waves, from above you or behind you, it seems random. Nice thing is that they come bearing weapons, so by the time the elevator is at the bottom you typically can have the two weapons you brought, plus a fully loaded carbine to take out the remaining flood at the end (I bring the beam rifle and sword with me originally).

Thanks for reading, and the comments!

Fada beo Halo 2!

(forgot to quote SlidingGhost) the flood were harder to kill than the sentinels, but you hated them more than flood? because the sentinels have guns?

Because they fly. All flying machines must die!

Miss playing those online objective games with your friends? Are the only things people on Xlink Kai/Xbox Connect concern themselves with Slayer/Sniper games? Have no fear! Halo 2 has Oddball with bots built into the Campaign! All it takes is a skull, some time, and some "balls"!
