When I say rank, I am not talking about the rank next to your name on XBOX live, but the ranks on B.net. Everyone except the moderators and the Bungie workers are members. At least I think they are. I was wondering if you people have ever thought about a ranking system for everyone. I just thought it would be a good idea. Maybe have them have the same abilities as the regular members but with a little more prestige. Just wanted to know your opinions on this. I did not what forum to post this in, so I choose this one. Therefore, I am sorry if I have posted this in the wrong forum.

I expect that the "ranks" or "titles" will probably be tied into the "karma system" will probably be tied together eventually.
Otherwise, the Current ranks are...
* Member
* Forum Ninja
* Master Forum Ninja
* Overlord
* Community Guy
* Emotional Support
* Web Team
* Management Overhead

EDIT: I missed a couple! (twice)
* Bungie.net Superuser
* Content Monkey
* Theme Master

These are all that I have seen, feel free to add to it.

I was thinking it would be great in the community and would be something people would work toward getting one. For people who have never been banned, or people that have been around for ages, or maybe for people who post several times and are good people. Problem is that I have honestly failed all three (3) of those. I have been banned for getting around the -blam- filter, I have been here for a while but there have been people here a lot longer than I have, and I am a mean person to the people who ask for 2-month free trials. I am sorry for the first one by the way.

I beleive thay would be a good idea. Add a little more spice to the place

  • 04.18.2006 5:34 PM PDT

I'm not that active, but never dead.

I think it's fine the way it is, and ranks would lead to arrogance.

For example: "Look it, I'm a verteran member and am better than you because of that, so don't even think of arguing against me."

OR

"OMGS! You think you're so speical beacuse you have a higher rank than me your -blam!-"

It would be like being a mod, but without the powers.

Well I guess your right... to a point. Some people would use it as bragging rights unfortunatley. I just thought that it would be a good idea. For these people that do though can also get there ranks striped. I mean the moderators are constantly roaming around. I don't want to add more work for the moderators though. It is nice to get peoples opinions though on this topic. In order to get it though you would have to have a good personality and be noticed by the moderators. So for the most part I don't believe that the person that has it would be so arrogant and use that. Good point though. Also might I add, I may promote better attitude, if they were trying to get a rank then they would have to be a good person all the time, and it might promote the activity in the forums as well if some one has something that they can earn. That is why people play ranked matches. I don't know if the moderators have the ability to view all the persons post though. Wow I have quite a few run on sentences in there. So sorry for all the people who read to this point.

The ranking system would be good for very active members, but it would create a caste system and it might even lead to more flaming. I don't mind equality.

Wow equality word. You realy picked a good word to prove your point on that one. I really can't argue with that word. I see your point. I do believe though that the very active members should be awarded with some thing though. Why I feel this way I don't know. I am not even a very active member, but I give props to those who are.

I've always wondered what Sawnose has done that the mods haven't to become a super user...

I'm referring to the FAQ of HFCS that states all mods are super users or big Bungie fans. Something like that.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

You have to be carful with somthing like ranks.

You dont want elitism and you have to be careful on how you base a ranking system.

Would it be by how long you are here in which older members get a higher rank

or

How active you are? which would make spam from alot of members,

I was thinking mayeb color coding for a join date, but that sounds dumb after typing it.

Skillet was here and referred to himself in the third person.

Yeah...they would just cause people to think they were better than everybody else.

Eh why not? I read 'em just now, and they aren't quite as flame-filled as I expected.

I just thought that making a ranking system would increase activity in the forums. I understand that it will also produce more negative activity as well. Even now people brag about how long they have been here. They use that as a rank some times. I just thought that it would be interesting to have it ranked. I am not saying that there will be several ranks just a few. Not eveyone can get it as well, just the ones that catch the moderators eyes.

A ranking system and color coded type would increase activity; however, there would be unintended consequences.
