We are about a year away from 343's big release, Halo 4. Sadly, not a lot of multiplayer info has been given out (or any info for that matter). But they must have some big ideas for it, and I'm here to suggest one and see your feedback on it. No doubt, Invasion was one of the most exciting game modes in Reach, being able to tell almost a story and make they player feel like their in a mission from the campaign. So why not expand on such a great idea? Here are my ideas:

Intro: Give a short cut scene of the 6 players on each team sitting in a pelican (or phantom for elites) getting orders for the objectives, then blur out to the player already in the game, not looking through the loadout camera.

Phases: Allow maps/ game modes to have 2-5 phases per game, not just 3 so invasion games can vary in length and depth.

Objectives: In Reach there is three, assault, territories, and CTF. Why not add more variety? I have thought of three more options. Hunt- kill X amount of enemies, VIP- kill the enemy VIP (randomly chosen, has overshields, extra damage, and extra speed), and Generator- use weapons, vehicles, and equipment to destroy one or all the generators (like in generator defense).

Loadouts: Allow players to customize the player stats (player speed, health, and damage) for each loadout along with weapons. So say there's two classes, one with an assault rifle, one with a sniper. Obviously the sniper is a better class so to balance it down whoever chooses the sniper class will have 50% shields and do 75% damage, but the assault rifle class will still have normal shields and damage.

Phase options: Allow you to change the player options for each team, for each phase. So you can give the elites extra damage in phase 2, or make all spartans invisible in phase 3.

Turrets: Why make a stationary version of the plasma mortor on the wraith or the gauss cannon on the warthog? It would give the defensive team a lot more options. Oh and while I'm on vehicles, bring back the elephant :)

Invasion Infection: a new sub game mode where when the defenders kill someone and they join the defenders team, so it's like infection but the humans have goals to accomplish, like capture cores and territories.

So that's all I got, what do you guys think?

"Apparently people don't like the truth, but I do like it; I like it because it upsets a lot of people. If you show them enough times that their arguments are bull-blam!-, then maybe just once, one of them will say, 'Oh! Wait a minute I was wrong.' I live for that happening. Rare, I assure you."-Lemmy of Motorhead

i belive shhave funzes suppos

Yes, I'm the guy who had the Flood admit to being furries.

All I can say is, increase the play cap to 32 :) Invasion with more players would not only be more fun and more epic with bigger maps, it matters less when a player or two quite (if 2 players quit on a team in 6v6 invasion, you're done for).

Meh. I'd be on board with generator destroying. Not much else.

This. Make this happen 343i.

Simply to endure is to triumph!

I completely agree with you OP :)

32 players on reach? I'd like it but the map would be the size of spire, boneyard, and breakpoint combined haha

Blow up the elephant to access the next stage. I like this idea.

Generalizations.

32 people on console = lagfest.

avid forger, love vehicle gameplay

Well, a great idea would be for the defending team to have a "strategic Retreat" phase. That is, have the defending team drive an elephant from point A to point B, while keeping the driver safe. The defending team would have to repel the opposing team from boarding it and preventing it from reaching it's destination before time runs out.

The options for invasion in forge 2.0 are good for what they are, but are limited to assault, KOTH, and, CTF (core=flag). Options for Invasion 2.0 should be more robust, with the ability to set certain objects (i.e. weapons & vehicles) as objectives, and with more varied objectives. Invasion has some real potential, and for a major new game mode, bungie did a fantstic job on their two maps for it. Props to the game engineers on that one. Hopefully 343i recognized the limitations that Reach has, and will expand what's possible for the gametype, and Forge in general.

I wanna see two-way invasion. So for example, phase one could be like a game of two-way territories. The elites need to capture a Spartan territory and vice-versa.

Hey dummies, why are you talking about this where 343 will never see it?

Why not stop by my File Share while you're here?

Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

Hunt - There's already Invasion Slayer.
No to loadouts. We didn't want them in Reach, they definitely shouldn't be in 4. They have no place in a Halo game.
The turret idea is just dumb as hell. Might as well make everything else obsolete.
Same thing for Phase Options as Loadouts. Except minus the "didn't want them in Reach," since they weren't. Which is good.
Invasion Infection:
1. Is backwards. Killed Defenders should become attackers. Not vice-versa.
2. Is a bad idea.

Invasion infection sounds like a pretty fun game type to me. It is simply your opinion that is is a bad idea. Although perhaps an objective based infection game belongs more in the infection playlist. Unless of course there are multiple objectives like in typical invasion and the infected revert back to humans after each wave so that the objectives did not become ridiculously difficult. Although I agree killed defenders should become attackers and not vice-versa.
