Subject: The Weekly Review (Week Two 10.16.11)

What a hipster.

Well, Its that time of the week again!

Before we begin... This is a team effort, please don't give me individual credit.

The story behind the idea; as seen in Weekly Review 1.
Lately I've noticed an uproar in complaints about users wanting the weekly updates back, but the fact of the matter is Bungie is dark, and I anticipate they're going to stay that way for some time. So I thought, "if we can't have the Weekly Update, why don't we put together the next best thing?" A Weekly Review where the members can interact, and add what they feel was important or funny in the weeks past.

I know it's not as exciting, but it's better than nothing.

All right guys, you know the drill. If anything's gone down that you feel has been important, funny, or exciting in the past week, feel free to post it here and I will add it to the list.

The Weekly Review:

The Death of DP. You'll be missed <3 Link.

Serious Notes:

- Honeydew's room. Yeah, that just happened. Link.

- What field are you interested in? (A little old, but still has a few interesting facts) Link.

- Things that aren't cricket. (Serious yet derailed) Link.

- How big of a Halo fan are you? Link.

Lol Moments of the Week:

- May we reminisce over the absence of Shishka. Wait who? Link.

- Bnet Highlights 2011. Link.

- If you could have one think in Bungie's next game, what would it be? Link

- Full moderation history view. Link.

This week we felt like it was time to expand.

In attempts to reach for the stars this week, our team decided to add a few new features to The Weekly Review. First of which being our new Weekly Update section! Credits to Rokit for all the hard work!

The Weekly Update: Rokit style
Good evening,

This week has been a pretty interesting week here at Bungie.Net - and I should know. This week I felt out of the loop; I didn't know the current events, and I really had no idea what has happened throughout The Community this week - The Septagon and beyond. Once I seen this wealth of information, I felt slathered, soaked, and basted in metaphysical-honey. It felt good man, real good.

Now, enough of my ramblings - let's get down to business. To make it easier to soak up this information, I'll be going in chronological order throughout the week. So sit back, relax, and let me do the work. Just point and click for awesome-sauce.

The first thing I would like to bring up is The Flood Time Line. This work of art made by Spartan4085 puts the known history of The Flood into a new, interactive perspective. Even if you're not a Floodian, or a Former-Floodian, this is definitely worth taking a look at. There's many lulz to be had in this beautiful history lesson.

Now, onto more important things - like The Yellow Septagon's Septagon. As of late, The Septagon has been flooded with employee's posts, and it's no surprise many people have questions for them. Well now, within reason of course, JonnyOThan is answering our calls. Leaving Cert Q's allows users to ask Jonny a question related to breaking into the business. Who knows, maybe a few more will show up for us. Special thanks to cracomano for making the thread late last month.

Moving along, our fellow B-netter Sl1Ce7 67 brought pieces of a large puzzle together. My Dad, a Bungie Fan before me? shows just how truly awesome Bungie is. Spanning generations isn't an easy thing to do, especially in gaming. Which begs the question, does Bungie satisfy your mom? Cause they satisfy mine, very well.

Shishka is a pegboy! Or at least some people think so. The B-netter Turtle begs the question, Who else here misses Shishka? Which is a great question. Personally, I still have scars from him, but he was a great guy. Farewell our fair pegboy, we knew thee well.

The Septagon took a minor detour into ridiculous this week. Thanks to NarwhalSlayer99's If you could have one thing in Bungie's new game, members have been more willing to let go and post for fun, because it's fun. Delving into what the audience would like to see in Bungie's new and upcoming IP, this thread is a great outlook on why Bungie shouldn't ask us for "spanking new game" advice...

Early in the week, The Flood suddenly didn't want Halo to burn in a pit of fire alongside Call of Duty and Madden. SHOOTMEIFUDARE started it all with, How big of a Halo fan are you? I've always wanted to know how big of a Halo fan I was, but I can honestly say I wish I hadn't took his test. During the test my pants got really tight, but once I seen my score they got warm and baggy. Who knows though, maybe you'll do better?

Also earlier in the week, our savior Elmicker (<3) brought up the dead beat horse of Ninja Quality with Things That Aren't Cricket. With an ironic derailment, and an addition of a lock, this thread didn't really get far. But it's definitely worth a mention in this Weekly Review, because we just know how the Septagon loves mod talk.

Also, going back to The Yellow Septagon's Septagon - the employees are at it again. First it was stosh feeling lonely, then it was NoF trying to steal fire, then stosh, then NoF, and now Doc Honey is entering the ring! In Help me name a room at Bungie! fans have a chance to not only name a room, but it'll have a sign too! In a few short days the thread blew up with one second thoughts to a days thoughts in hopes of having their words hang in Bungie Studios.

In an effort to build upon tradition Zealot Tony created Bungie Highlights of 2011. Noting a few of the many humorous posts throughout 2011, this thread definitely brought a lulz or two. It's worth the click, I promise.

In a surprising turn of events, the B.Net famous Spartain Ken 15 thought of a pretty damn good idea, Full Moderation history view. While some of us aren't really that inclined to know, understand, live with, or discover our past - this would definitely be a great addition with our titles. After all, it's important to know when you'll get your title back. . . I guess. =) Also, as a pro-tip, no bans means no worries.

Oh hey, another mod talk thread. This one created by dibbs089 titled Please submit all posts in triplicate. This one being more directed at the decision quality and overall effectiveness the moderating team has. With a pretty good discussion flowing thus far, I have a feeling this one will take us places.

What a hipster.

Lets end this week with a bang!

The Weekly Interview: Interviewers identity would prefer to be kept a secret.

Interview: Vandelay16

NOTE: WARNING! The following interview include lots of lame jokes. Proceed at your own risk

Q: Who are you and what do you do?

A: My human name is Bill, Gamertag Vandelay16. I do a lot of things, most of which I can't say here. But I can say that I am currently enrolled at the College Of DuPage in Illinois. I'm working toward getting an associates degree in Marketing. I'm unemployed at the moment so I spend some of my free time making Let's Plays on Youtube. Check em out if you like. My Youtube

Q: Marketing? That sounds pretty sweet, if I ever need to advertise my job as a hooker I'll give you a call! Next question, What made you want to come to Bungie.net?

A: During the early days of Halo 3 my friend was telling me how cool stat tracking was on B.net. So after I got Halo 3 I signed up, got in trouble a few times, and have been hooked ever since.

Q: You? Friends? ha, good one! (You know you love my Lame jokes) Anyways... Why do you still come to Bungie.net?

A: I check my Reach stats a bit, but I mostly just like to see what's happening with Bungie. It's also fun to just relax and post in the forums.

Q: Yeah, posting in the forums is fun... until you get hit with a wet noodle anyways... If you had to chose, which Bungie Employee would you marry and why?

A: Totally would pick urk. I bet his beard would tickle!

Q: Agreed, Urk's beard is pretty sexy. If you had the chance to go skinny dipping with anyone from Bungie.net who would it be and why?

A: Probably Hylebos, we could play "find the Spiker" in the pool.

Q: Did you really have to put a picture of you and Hyle trying to "find the spiker" in my head? *shutters* Okay, Let's change the subject... What is your favorite color?

A: Cubbie Blue

Q: What is your favorite band/artist?

A: Johnny Cash

Q: Do you play/watch any sports?

A: I recently stopped playing baseball. I'm a die hard Cubs fan, but that's it.

Q: Do you have any "celeb crushes"?

A: I would do unspeakable things to Olivia Wilde

Q: Next Question! Do you want to eat pie at this exact second?

A: Only if it's blueberry, no crust.

Q: If you had to choose between Pizza and a cheeseburger/hamburger which would you pick?

A:Cheeseburger, but make it a double.

Q: How can you say no to pizza?! Any games you are looking forward to getting?

A: Sonic Generations, Zelda Skyward Sword, and Halo CEA.

Q: Alright time for some really important questions! If you had to chose between hanging out with me or me who would you chose and why?

A: Probably You, I mean you are so cool. But You are such a jerk, can't stand you...

Q: Would you go skinny dipping with me if I told you I had candy?

A: Only if it was a Snickers....king size

Q: Must... Resist... dirty response.... Time for the final and most important question! How do you eat your oreos?

A: Drench them hoes in milk and eat them in one bite.

Well there you have it, give a round of of applause to Vandelay16!
Credit is also due to dmbfan09. Our original Interview of the week, Link. Sorry for the miss-communication.

Note: If anybody has any epic Bungie related tats, please post a pic. We will be choosing a winner for "Best Bungie Related Tattoo" to be spotlighted in next weeks edition of The Weekly Review. Thanks!

Well, that's the Weekly Review for this week. Tune in next week and we might have a topic about strippers or something - you never can tell with us B-netters. So long folks, post safe and have a great week!

Subject: The Weekly Review (Week Two)

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Cool I actually made it on one of these.

Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

Once again, great job Commander. These are a nice fill in until we do get the Weekly Updates back. Rokit's recap was entertaining to read as well.

Thanks.

Quick question, does anyone know if there's still a way to view the old Comm Chatter (Not the Weekly Updates, I'm aware of the News forum)? The team and I could possibly get some inspiration / ideas from the old archive.

Another brilliant update, if not quite as good as Urk's weekly updates. Nevertheless, it's entertaining, very well written and should serve as a superb substitute while Bungie remain dark. Keep up the great work!

You imply a level of control over Halo: Reach matchmaking that we no longer have. Or, in your vernacular, it isn't our shiznit anymore.

The Forerunner, the Great Journey, and Heaven Theory

[Announcement Trailer] Halo: Forerunner

Posted by: Agustus
I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

Wow.

After seeing a multitude of iterations come and go I have to say this was very impressive. It's clear, concise, and has a little bit of everything (I can honestly say this could substitute for a week of being on B.net; no easy feat).

A few suggestions though...

-I know that this is primarily a focus on the community and thus more targeted towards frequenters of this forum, but you should try to make an effort to to highlight threads from the other forums as well. The Universe and Gallery move slow enough for you to notice any rare gems; the Flood and Reach move a bit faster but finding quality threads can still be done.

-The interview needs some work. I would hesitate suggesting that you implement a template to just copy and paste (the most important aspect of an interview is for the conversation to flow in regards to what is being said) but there are specific things you want to address. I obviously speak for myself but I don't care what a member's favorite food or color is. I'd like to read an interview and get to know them, as a person, a bit better.

-Fix the link to my thread. :)

I agree. Though, we do have an already existing template.

The short version: We had a little misunderstanding with the the interview, leaving us lost with only a 48 hour time-frame to completely start from scratch. Let me tell you, it wasn't easy.

I've tried to relink your thread 3 times now but the same error keeps popping up. Give me a minute please.
