The story behind the idea; as seen in Weekly Review 1.
Lately I've noticed an uproar in complaints about users wanting the weekly updates back, but the fact of the matter is Bungie is dark, and I anticipate they're going to stay that way for some time. So I thought, "if we can't have the Weekly Update, why don't we put together the next best thing?" A Weekly Review where the members can interact, and add what they feel was important or funny in the weeks past.
I know it's not as exciting, but it's better than nothing.
All right guys, you know the drill. If anything's gone down that you feel has been important, funny, or exciting in the past week, feel free to post it here and I will add it to the list.
The Weekly Review:
The Death of DP. You'll be missed <3 Link.
Serious Notes:
- Honeydew's room. Yeah, that just happened. Link.
- What field are you interested in? (A little old, but still has a few interesting facts) Link.
- Things that aren't cricket. (Serious yet derailed) Link.
- How big of a Halo fan are you? Link.
Lol Moments of the Week:
- May we reminisce over the absence of Shishka. Wait who? Link.
- Bnet Highlights 2011. Link.
- If you could have one think in Bungie's next game, what would it be? Link
- Full moderation history view. Link.
This week we felt like it was time to expand.
In attempts to reach for the stars this week, our team decided to add a few new features to The Weekly Review. First of which being our new Weekly Update section! Credits to Rokit for all the hard work!
The Weekly Update: Rokit style
Good evening,
This week has been a pretty interesting week here at Bungie.Net - and I should know. This week I felt out of the loop; I didn't know the current events, and I really had no idea what has happened throughout The Community this week - The Septagon and beyond. Once I seen this wealth of information, I felt slathered, soaked, and basted in metaphysical-honey. It felt good man, real good.
Now, enough of my ramblings - let's get down to business. To make it easier to soak up this information, I'll be going in chronological order throughout the week. So sit back, relax, and let me do the work. Just point and click for awesome-sauce.
The first thing I would like to bring up is The Flood Time Line. This work of art made by Spartan4085 puts the known history of The Flood into a new, interactive perspective. Even if you're not a Floodian, or a Former-Floodian, this is definitely worth taking a look at. There's many lulz to be had in this beautiful history lesson.
Now, onto more important things - like The Yellow Septagon's Septagon. As of late, The Septagon has been flooded with employee's posts, and it's no surprise many people have questions for them. Well now, within reason of course, JonnyOThan is answering our calls. Leaving Cert Q's allows users to ask Jonny a question related to breaking into the business. Who knows, maybe a few more will show up for us. Special thanks to cracomano for making the thread late last month.
Moving along, our fellow B-netter Sl1Ce7 67 brought pieces of a large puzzle together. My Dad, a Bungie Fan before me? shows just how truly awesome Bungie is. Spanning generations isn't an easy thing to do, especially in gaming. Which begs the question, does Bungie satisfy your mom? Cause they satisfy mine, very well.
Shishka is a pegboy! Or at least some people think so. The B-netter Turtle begs the question, Who else here misses Shishka? Which is a great question. Personally, I still have scars from him, but he was a great guy. Farewell our fair pegboy, we knew thee well.
The Septagon took a minor detour into ridiculous this week. Thanks to NarwhalSlayer99's If you could have one thing in Bungie's new game, members have been more willing to let go and post for fun, because it's fun. Delving into what the audience would like to see in Bungie's new and upcoming IP, this thread is a great outlook on why Bungie shouldn't ask us for "spanking new game" advice...
Early in the week, The Flood suddenly didn't want Halo to burn in a pit of fire alongside Call of Duty and Madden. SHOOTMEIFUDARE started it all with, How big of a Halo fan are you? I've always wanted to know how big of a Halo fan I was, but I can honestly say I wish I hadn't took his test. During the test my pants got really tight, but once I seen my score they got warm and baggy. Who knows though, maybe you'll do better?
Also earlier in the week, our savior Elmicker (<3) brought up the dead beat horse of Ninja Quality with Things That Aren't Cricket. With an ironic derailment, and an addition of a lock, this thread didn't really get far. But it's definitely worth a mention in this Weekly Review, because we just know how the Septagon loves mod talk.
Also, going back to The Yellow Septagon's Septagon - the employees are at it again. First it was stosh feeling lonely, then it was NoF trying to steal fire, then stosh, then NoF, and now Doc Honey is entering the ring! In Help me name a room at Bungie! fans have a chance to not only name a room, but it'll have a sign too! In a few short days the thread blew up with one second thoughts to a days thoughts in hopes of having their words hang in Bungie Studios.
In an effort to build upon tradition Zealot Tony created Bungie Highlights of 2011. Noting a few of the many humorous posts throughout 2011, this thread definitely brought a lulz or two. It's worth the click, I promise.
In a surprising turn of events, the B.Net famous Spartain Ken 15 thought of a pretty damn good idea, Full Moderation history view. While some of us aren't really that inclined to know, understand, live with, or discover our past - this would definitely be a great addition with our titles. After all, it's important to know when you'll get your title back. . . I guess. =) Also, as a pro-tip, no bans means no worries.
Oh hey, another mod talk thread. This one created by dibbs089 titled Please submit all posts in triplicate. This one being more directed at the decision quality and overall effectiveness the moderating team has. With a pretty good discussion flowing thus far, I have a feeling this one will take us places.
