dude, im so peossed off right now. i'm getting that stupid error that says "Cannot allocate required memory. Some other program has loaded where halo needs to be loaded" or something like that. I had a sucky graphics card b4 that showed the game messed up and now i got a MSI NX6200TC TD64E (really good card). i looked in the config.txt in the halo folder and added a new section with vendor = 0x10de and the next line is something, idk, but i know it's right except for the text in between the "s, idk if it matters what it is or not. 0x0161 = "MSI NX6200TC". how does microsoft and bungie manage to make a game not compatable with some graphics cards? i meen seriously, are they trying to peoss us off? it's like them making windows xp not work on some hard drives or monitors. it's retarded. and they aren't even trying to fix it. that's the least they could do. someone really needs to do something about this because i haven't played halo 1 yet, only the 2nd one and i really want to play it. plz someone help me. thank you

edit : oh, and by the way, here are my specs
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (2.2ghz)
1024 mb ram
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1 (upgrading to SP2 won't work. i tried halo on it b4 i reformatted, just havent downloaded sp2 yet)

edit2 : also, i have tried to close everything and i did go to support.microsoft or whatever and tried all that and looked through like 5 million websites but none helped me.

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

I'm sorry, but that's not that good of a video card.
My Radeon 9600XT AIW beats that card on benchmarks by a good deal of FPS.

Anyway, do you have DirectX 9b installed? The game requires at least that.

Go to Newegg.com and find a Geforce 6600GT or 6800GT and buy the one for your type of card slot.(I assume it's PCIe because of the 6200TC) The card shouldn't be that much, and it will run everything really well.

Go here and download DirectX 9.0c and install it.
Not having that might be part of your problem.
