I'm sorry but this has begun to annoy the hell out of me. This place has turned into a zoo. Every post, every idea, every...anything, it all gets vandalized. People are afraid of improvement...because, lo-and-behold, giving members more power, even in their own groups, might lead to vandalism! Karma? Oh no! Vandalism. Post report? Oh no! Vandalism.

What is wrong with this place? A few good improvements can have repercussions if not implemented properly, but that's easy to fix! Karma? Let people report a post/person only once per item. Ever. That means, the database saves their feedback with their name, and doesn't let them leave karma on that post again. Grudges wouldn't matter...unless they have other screennames! In which case, don't allow more then 3 karma replies from one IP address. Simple. Same goes for post report features. A moderator only gets PMed by the system if say...7 or more people request that the post gets locked. Vandal-proof...since there is such a phobia of it.

And what's with the flaming? Every other post is locked, sometimes needlessly. And the lack of user-generated content? Or the mass lethargia? Why is there no montage database...or why are there no guides anymore, or no solid updates, or screenshots...SOMETHING! Man you don't understand. I sit here every night looking for something interesting to post, or to read...or to watch. Each time I am met with humiliating defeat. Why do I feel like my favorite place is dying, that my evenings have become dreadfully dull? I think it's come nearly time for us all to pack our bags, move off to Counter-Strike (which has a thriving and vibrent community)...and leave this poor soul in peace--to be ripped apart by flame wars and such.

Finally, the slow degrading has gotten to me.

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

Well... there IS an update coming soon. Perhaps that will answer your many questions.

And I'm not saying you don't have a life or anything, but maybe this place just shouldn't be your favorite place?

And remember that videogames get a HUGE range of personality-types that play them. Everything from crazy kids, to childish teenagers like Croyt, to calm, calculating "adults" like me, to people like you, to older folk like GameJunkieJim. Some know how to act appropriately, like GameJunkieJim, and some don't (like Croyt, if you remember his videos not too long ago). You can't ask "why" there are flamers/trolls/-blam!-s/-blam!-s/whatever... you just have to accept that wherever you go in life, there's bound to be at least one to ruin your day often enough to annoy you.

Try to instead focus on the "good" gems that settle within the sea of "bad." You tend to centralize your actions on B.net to certain chapters and forums, but it'll make you feel better. Before Halo 2, I barely touched the Septagon... I was more of an Underground Junkie. Things changed, different people moved in, and I gradually stepped away from certain forums and certain chapters, selectively focusing on what I found to be more to my liking than the others.

I do have a life. I have a girlfriend, a high school, a soccer team, and all that other stuff. But when it's nine, maybe ten at night...there isn't much else to do. Sadly though, there isn't a place quite as...(unique/homey?) as bnet. Perhaps it is because of the groups feature, I haven't found anything else on the web that's similar. And I do spend most of my time in the groups, it's just that they aren't as active as the main forums, which is why you see me ranting here.

Lets hope you have a life, or you would be dead. But the update is coming, as someone has said. Maybe things will change then.

"Whatever exists, whatever in creation exists without my knowledge exists without my consent. These anonymous creatures may seem little or nothing in the world. Yet the smallest crumb can devour us. Any smallest thing beneath yon rock out of men's knowing. Only nature can enslave man and only when the existence of each last entity is routed out and made to stand naked before him will he be properly suzerain of the earth."

The reason that many supposedly good ideas for the community are flawed is that they are not properly thought through. So many things sound good on paper, but what happens when they are put into place? People think it won't hurt too much if a system is abused, but what about when you are on the wrong end of that abuse? All of a sudden that abuse isn't so harmless. There is a lot of backthought put into possibly implementing an idea, and how it would work. Because no one wants to spend time working on something that they will have to get rid of soon after.

Yes, and again I'd like to clarify that I wasn't accusing you of not having a life. I'm sure you do.

It just takes time to find the right groups that are active and fun... It took me what... 3 years to find groups I like enough to stay in...

Skillet was here and referred to himself in the third person.

Meh...this place will get swambed with interesting stuff when Halo 3 is...IF Halo 3 is announced...(don't want to get blacklisted for atating aomething that COULD not be true...)

Hey I hear you. No hard feelings. I wasn't insulted to begin with, just a mention. =D
