The following snippet (17s) should be considered a cupholder, or demo. If you don't like it: I'm constantly trying to improve stuff. If you do like it: Big chance it won't make it into the film.
Pimps at Sea. Don't ask. Whetter you'll see me making my own P@S game in the docu is yet to be determined.
First of all, I wasn't really sure where to put this, although this is the most logic choice, the reason for my doubts can be read later on.
Anyway, to those who didn't know, not too long ago, I came up with the idea of making a film/documentary about Bungie and it's community, I have been discussing it for a little while now, down in the Council Chambers, where most of us came to the conclusion that the film should indeed focus mainly on the community. But therein lies the problem: How do you make a film with only a limited amount of resources about Bungie in general and it's community, spread over the entire globe?
The answer is simple, yet complicated to execute. Help from the community is required, lots of it. Because to make this work, I will need footage of members, and I ain't talking about the dirty kind of stuff.
Unfortunately, i can't travel to all the members, point a camera at them while they talk about Bungie, show their crazy bungie related items and tricks. Worse, No way I can't travel to Bungie studio's and have them talk about their community and the greatness of the company. So this means members will have to film theirselves, show their Bungie related items and trick and topics and more. They have to upload it all for me to use it, and so on. Yes, this is indeed going to be a long and complicated progress, if it will ever happen.
Because how many people will be willing to help out, go through all that trouble, and even if they do, will the quality be high enough for actual use? If I can't get anything usefull, I'll be making a film just about Bungie and it's games, in that case, this belongs in the Underground, but for now, it goes down here just fine.
Anyway, enough with the depressing talk, it's time to whip out some of the idea's we came up with:
* The Bungie history, from start to modern day: This is probably how the entire thing is going to be set up. It starts with the creation of Bungie, the very first few games, the Marathon trilogy, the Myth games, Oni, Microsfot buying Bungie, Halo. With each different "chapter", if you will it shows a different part of the community, the Halo community, marathon community, etc. Here the community talks about the influences these games have/had, the things they have done with it and more.
* The fans in general: It would be great to have people talk about how they got to be a Bungie fan, their history with it, what it has done and still does for them. Fans talking about the community and so on, all in a nice interview style.
* In-game footage: The documentary wouldn't be complete without footage of all the Bungie games. Too bad for me, I don't own all the games, so filming them would be rather difficult. I really need "oldskoolers" for this one.
* Old stuff: Parts of the Halo 2 documentary and studio tours will defintely been thrown in. Yes, it's old, but it's the only actual footage of Bungie I have. Anway should someone have footage of some of the Bungie fan fests, or something else, that would be SWEET.
* Narrator: I want one, I just do, too bad I don't have the right audio equipment for it.
* Bungie.net members: A little idea, some of the screentime might be focussing on some of the members of B.net.
* Community art: During the film, I really want so show some of the better pieces of art created by the fans, and even some of work of Craig Mullins, you name it.
* Much, much more: These are just some idea's. I have a dozen more, but because I still have to figure out if it actually is something, so can't really post them yet.
I want the film to focus for about 60% percent on the community, about 30% on Bungie self and about 10% on the games, in a 60 minute video. Of course this can all change later on, things still need to be worked out, resources have to be gathered and plans simply change.
Now, feed me, feed me feedback.
