Meh, we're gonna have to upgrade to Visita someday. It's just a matter of when you want to do it.
I'm likely going to hold off on Visita until a few months after its release, when all the hype (and therefore the costs) have died down.
A few notes about Vista
-Vista is essential to take full advantage of the capabilities of new hardware. The game doesn't run the computer, the OS does. (considered pretty basic knowledge, but you'd be suprised how often people miss this point.) This should also explain why Vista is required for H2PC. You don't need Vista itself, but you DO need Vista's ability to handle processes of newer gfx cards and processors.
-Vista is set to release sometime next year, possibly January of 2007.
-Vista will require a decent graphics chipset/card to run, since many of its new features (Prominently the Aero feature) will be graphics intensive.
-Vista will likely require a 64 bit processor to run
-No, Vista's requirements won't be THAT high. Remember that Vista's gotta run on laptops, in all their integrated chipset and mobile processor glory. Microsoft's not going to miss out on a substantial and ever-growing laptop market by restricting Vista to desktops (either directly or through hardware requirements)
-Yes, it's set to replace Windows XP. No there's nothing you can do about it. It's microsoft. What'd you expect?
-Yeah, it'll have more than 2 versions. Off the top of my head, there's a home basic, home premium, professional basic and premium and hints at an Ultimate version (aimed at gamers and movie makers).
No, I don't mind being corrected on any of these points. Fire away...
