i personally believe tht the forerunners are aliens, but are humanoids, so they have human features so i do believe tht they in the halo games were the first human like beings in the halo universe, o and incase ne here hasnt figured it out the place where all the halos can be activated simultaniously is EARTH. Tht is why the covenant wanted to find earth so badly was because they will use earth to activate all their halos and start """THE GREAT JOURNEY""" so to get to the point i believe tht the covenant want to kill all humans because they kno tht the humans are the ancestors to the forerunners and they fear tht if the humans become as advanced as the forerunners, then the humans would be unstoppable. So they hate humans because they fear humans. Also maybe the covenant also want to wipeout humans because they kno tht the forerunners were the humans ancestors and since the forerunners wanted to wipe themselves out to escape and control the flood. The covenant thnk tht to wipe out all traces of the forerunners they must wipeout the forerunners ancestors. US. The humans. It has also come to my attention tht in the games tht the oracles call humans reclaimers, so this is another theory tht i have heard about from other sources but maybe humans were supposed to reclaim the universe and take the forerunner's place as the dominant power in the universe. So the forerunners "fore ran" the universe and after they were supposed to kill the flood humans were supposed to "reclaim" it.So i believe tht maybe humans were ancestors of the forerunners but were engineered to survive the blast from the halos to then reclaim and dominate the universe but maybe the forerunners didnt count on all these aliens(the covenant) to survive mass extinction for the halos and become a threat to humanity. This is ALL a theory this is just a theory. so only thnk of it as such.

Skillet was here and referred to himself in the third person.

I think the Forerunners were humans...Simply because of the Monitor...he constantly calls the Chief..."Reclaimer"...that means that he obviously recagnizes his armor.

And then there is another thing...in the beggining video for "Two Batrayals" he asks the Chief a question:

"The LAST time you asked me...if it were my choice...would I do it? After having considerable time to ponder this question...my answer remains the same...I have no choice...I MUST activate the ring."

What does he mean LAST TIME? And what does he mean CONSIDERABLE TIME TO PONDER THE QUESTION?

My theory is this...the Humans of Eart were supposedly wiped out before...though the same exact way of living happened all over again. So 343 Guilty Spark had already seen the Chief once and the Chief asked the wuestion...they activated the ring and wiped every living thing from the galaxy and contained the Flood...then the people eventullay gre back and the Covenant war began and the Chief returned and the Covies let the Flood loose and the process started all over again...that is why the Monitor is so confused when the Chief asks all those questions...he's supposed to already know!

Jjaro...

Possibly a collection of races. Hunters may have been part of the Forunner army.

Hunters?! Hunters?! now thats pure crazy...

it was obviously humans, (or should i say "is"...) the monitor thinks chief is the original chief he used to know way back then, and as the previous person had said, the monitor is answerin answers which master chief has no clue what the monitors talking about, so basically, the humans or "forrunners" are as i ahve said..."humans".

holy!!! i agree with all of you i read the books and still didnt understand it but you guys brought out huge points but the only thing that doesnt have full proof is the part that Earth is the control center for ALL halos but it is a possibility and everything else has so much proof behind it.

I say the forruners are humans from 2351

  • 04.25.2006 4:45 AM PDT

If they WERE humans then why is the Chief and the Marines against the Sentinals? The Sentinals are Forerunner creations so why would the humans fight their own creation and destroy the halos if they created them?

Oh, and by the way, I think the Forerunners are those Heretics that you fight as the Arbiter.

When we were first introduced to the sentinel, they were allies, the sentinels only turned on master chief because the he decieded that he wasn't going to participate in the utter anhialation of every race in the entire galaxy, in fact he would try to stop it by any means necessary and would succeed in doing so, so that's something to take into consideration. Also, if you noticed in Halo 2, neither of the moniters nor the sentinels posed any threat to the humans. IMO, the humans aren't the forerunners per say, but I think they're descendants of the forerunners, so technically they couldn't have created the rings or the sentinels for that matter. And the idea that the heretics were descendants of the forerunners is ridiculous. They were just a rag-tag band of elites and grunts who no longer followed the Covenant's popularly held belief that the forerunners were gods since they were "enlightened" by 343 guilty spark of halo's true purpose.
I also somewhat agree with mr. tactics about the forerunners being a humanoid alien. Some sort of alien race that looks similar to humanity, while not actually being related to humanity. I say this beacause in the first book in the Halo franchise, the humans translated a covenant message which said that humanity was an affront to their gods. For those of you with a limited vocabulary, the word affront means to insult, offend, or to defy. If this is the case, then I don't understand how the monitors didn't pick that up by now, especially after the chief obliterated the last halo.
These are just two possible theories that i could come up with.

How could they recognize something that doesn't exist. There had to be some basis and origionality for the armor design. It is highly unlikely that someone just dug up this highly advanced armor and knew how to use it.
