Based off of what happened to 343 Guilty Spark, Cortana may develop a form of 'Rampancy' as stated in the Halo Wikia website. What will be her future?

Why are you here?

I'm starting to think Cortana's condition will push the story forward and may be one of the leading conflicts in 5 or 6.

It's very possible.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

There are theories that dictate that Cortana reached metastability after she was rampant with the gravemind.

She was said to be made in 2549...By 2253 she's only 4...It has to be 2256 or beyond, although with all the information from the Installations or the addition of Mendicant Bias, she might have extended her rampancy.

"Where ere thou hast been, here or in yon world manifest? Canst thou tell what is, or what was, or what is to come? No thing shall last. Yet there are some things that will never change. History is written in blood, yet are battles really lost on the battlefield? Canst thou tell me where thou comest, and where thou goest, and what is, or what was, or what will be? For everything remains, AS IT NEVER WAS."

I've actually explored many theories in that 343 Guilty Spark was not rampant.

He was only following protocol because of how he was programmed.

She wasn't rampant whilst with the Gravemind though, she was only decieved into believing what she was being put through to the point where she was on the brink of rampancy. We see her go rampant at the end of Origins.

Frankie from 343i even stated cortana s age/rampancy will play some part in the reclaimer trilogy.

He did. This means that she's clearly not metastable.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

I think she's going to die at the end of Halo 5 and Chief is going to have to kill her, unfortunately.

I don't think I could take her becoming evil. :'-(

Agreed, hopefully leading to some kind of plot twist such as her being vulnerable to persuasion by the TO or being turned to the enemy side somehow.

I feel there is potential for an epic plot twist here which could add to the mood that this is about Johns destiny. I would rather have parts of the games where John navigates on his own without cortana guiding him every step of the way, would help create tension and suspense. This, is good storytelling in my humble opinion.
Agreed.
And considering the attatchment between MC and Cortana it could serve as good leverage for a betrayal twist.
