Subject: HALO: Reach Playlist Beta PURE system

Give me a gun and I'll get it done.

Okay, I miss-posted this to start, so now it's finally in the right spot....

As we all know, there is currently a reach beta playlist in which the armor abilities/gametypes are trying to be perfected. I've put some thought into this, read the numerous issues people have with each ability and think I have come up with a system to fix it.

Comment are quite appreciated.

This is of current just a fix/adjustment proposal for all the armor abilities.

From the top: (in no particular order :P)

Sprint:
Is fine just as it is. It should be set as initial equip. to leave room for drop shield. (I.E. if nothing is selected when you die, you re-spawn with sprint.)

Armor Lock:
The current beta version works great. If you get stuck and lock, you lock the 'nade inside armor lock and is still kills you. Thank heavens.

Jetpack:
Good. 'Nuff said.

Invisibility:
There have been hundreds of complaints about snipers using this, and how noobish it is. But what about all of us tactical users who use it to escape and infiltrate? I spent about a month thinking about this, and have found the best solution: 7-10 seconds of PURE Halo 3 type invisibility, with no motion tracker jamming. BUT, when you turned it on, you would always be on the motion tracker, even when not moving. This cuts down camping, an still lets you escape. probably about 30 seconds recharge.

Hologram:
Obviously too weak. The best idea I've heard is the hologram shouldn't flicker/die when fired upon and makes no noise when used.

Drop Shield:
I want to see this in more gametypes, hence the reason I said spring should be an initial equip.
Also, I miss the original bubble shield...but that may be just me.

I hope this system can be used to improve the current halo experience.

Regards,

Starflyt

P.S. I am also a fan of the current (MELEE) damage bleed-through in the shield. Could be just me, though.

good post.

armour lock is still anoying, i think weapons should do more damage to the charge then they currently do.

invisibility is broken beyond repair, though i do like your solution i much prefer darkside eric's, when you are moving you are invisible but when standing still and hiding you are currently visible, this add's stealth to it as intended while removing camping.

hologram is fine in my opinion, if you know what you are doing then you can fool your opponent quite easily and get a "stealthy" kill.

i'm not realy a fan of bullet bleed through on single shot weapons unless it's a power weapon, i can understand it on the battle rifle because it was a 3shot burst, so thats 2 shots removes shields and the 3rd to kill with a headshot.
i've also heard there was bullet bleed through on the magnum in previous halo's but i'm not entirely sure if that's true.

I think that anyone and everyone who complains that the original armor lock is broken is full of it. People just want to make Reach like the H3 and, guess what, THIS ISN'T HALO3!!!!!! If you really have a problem with the original, then CHANGE YOUR TACTICS! Stop crying about how you can't kill some one when they use armor lock. In short: GET OVER IT.

Another thing, for all you Jet Packers, you just plain suck. The constant jumping is so annoying, but I don't complain about it and cry to the developers to change it. I curse your constant use of flying and just lead you in my sights.

So thanks again for all you cry-babies who can't stand to change your skill set and adapt and force the developers to change the game to suit YOUR whims.

Cheers

Like your camo fix. Rather just get rid of loadouts altogether and make things pickups, like everyone's said a billion times.

Boltshot = mini shotgun

Jetpack is-
But hologram--
I agree with you.

wait, so you're complaining about people who want broken things fixed(such as DMR bloom) and unbalanced things balanced(like armour lock) and saying we complain?

there is a difference between complaining and constructive criticism.

honestly, i think it could work.

aslong as the armour abilities are well balanced and everyone spawns with the same weapons/greandes then there should realy be a problem with it.

just in reach, the armour abilities aren't that well balanced as they should be to be as loadouts.

It sucked at launch, and sucks now. It's incredible they never considered changing the duration.

damage dealt to an armour lock user is transfered over to time remaining depending on the weapon.

sorry what? they did adjust the duration...

Not the same at making it only last 2 seconds, like it should. ;)

I should elaborate. Should be used only for incoming grenades and rockets before the ALer locked. I shouldn't have to waste a grenade or whatever other ammo is effective. At least if I know the duration is two seconds, the noob who was out-DMRed and locked won't have that surprise advantage you should only get with real map cover.

Edit: btw did they ever get rid of frosting? Kind of fell off the radar it seems.

Give me a gun and I'll get it done.

Getting rid of loadouts kind of ruins the point. The hologram, while usable, is still quite weak, and is almost never used in a high-ranking game, because it is just not quite as effective as everything else.
Invisiblity should work kind of like the arbiter's from halo 2.

And as for armor lock....it just wasn't fair. The emp, plus vehicle killing, plus sticky rejection.....it was just too much.

And we are trying to make this game as much fun as possible.

Frosting?

Oh, and are there any other opinions on the hologram?

Hologram shouldnt auto lock you on the hologram. that annoying me when your trying to kill someone and they use a hologram you auto aim on the hologram.

  • 10.20.2011 10:57 AM PDT

Active Camo should have the restrictions flipped around.
It should last longer while moving (lasting about 40-45 seconds) and triggering radar jammer.
While remaining still or moving slow enough to not show up on motion tracker, it should drain 4x as fast, lasting about 10 seconds but not triggering radar jammer.

Cuts down on camping substantially without cutting out the effectiveness of AC team support (through jamming enemy radar).

  • 10.26.2011 12:03 PM PDT

You got some good ideas. Makes me wonder if Bungie or 343 actually listened to their fans...

  • 10.26.2011 2:28 PM PDT

I intend to live forever, or die trying,

so far, so good.

I like the idear of Holograms having a dying affect.

That would trick the enemy, thinking your dead.

  • 10.26.2011 2:40 PM PDT

Give me a gun and I'll get it done.

I actually find the radar jamming painfully inefficient. Because it all originates where you are, just approximate the center of all the dots a viola!! you have your invisible.
On the other hand, when you used it in Halo 3 almost nobody could find you until you hit them in the face.

Ugh, no. You need sprint/evade to catch up with people. Especially so you don't have to follow them for miles for a deserved assassination/ninja beat down.

Never had this problem in other games, and how the hell do you follow people in this dumb game? It has radar!

There are quite a few ways to avoid being seen. And usually by the time they do it's because they have a knife in their stomach. You'd be surprised how absentminded players are.

But that's off Topic, what do y'all think of the invisibility fixes?

Armor Lock:
Should last 2 seconds and reflect only explosives and instant kill damage

Jetpack:
Should be a thruster pack (Like the rangers elites in campaign) that takes you to the nearest ledge in front of you (Or add it as a new AA)

Invisibility:
Should be 7 second Camo time while not moving or moving slow enough to not be on radar and 17 seconds while moving and should completely Jam radar, not originating form where you are

Hologram:
Obviously too weak. The best idea I've heard is the hologram shouldn't flicker/die when fired upon and makes no noise when used.

Drop Shield:
No opinion
fix'd
