Subject: Thoughts on Halo Anniversary Soundtrack

Thus far the only track I've been able to give a listen to is the menu theme, and I feel like they are headed in the right direction for a remastering of the original scores. However, Paul Lipson made it clear that we "will certainly find some new surprises here - bold choices and brave adaptations." It seems like 343 is doing a fantastic job of keep faithful to the Halo that Bungie has provided, but I still have some fears. I'm just interested to see what concerns could be had regarding their interpretations of the soundtrack.

In other news, this will be the first time that a Halo soundtrack is on vinyl! FINALLY!

Hey, now!

This is officially either the greatest or worst thing to ever happen to Star Wars. I'm going with the former.

It sounds like they won't be putting any wonky stuff on it, *looks at Marty pointedly, remembering the 'Movement of the Odyssey' tracks from Halo 2*, and that they'll be pretty true to the original games overtures.

As for the Vinyl, now I can finally do some scratch. Heating up the dance floor...

I don't even think "movement" was real, but a fan joke.

If not, then a Marty joke.

I just hope they don't really do something weird in the track. But, personally, one of the most fun things about Halo was seeing where Marty would go next.

It was on the Soundtrack, though I think Incubus did it, not Marty.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

:)
The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

As long as they dont mess up my awesomely beautiful ''Rock anthem for saving the world'', I'll be happy.

Honestly?

I dont think there is a moment that gets you more pumped in the whole trilogy, than when you read the Cartographer and have to escape to the surface to board the Pelican, and this song is playing.

Simply amazing.

Hahaha, back when I was a scrub I'd get lost at that part, the music would die out, and I'd get pissed about having to trek around for half an hour without a kickass track to back me up.

It seems more 'male' centred than I remember it to be. Got a comparison from Halo CE?

I prefer it. It sounds more religious.

I like how Halo 2 is more female centered as it makes the game sound creepy and mysterious.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Haven't listened to it much. I'm looking more forward to the Halo 4 soundtrack.

  • 10.20.2011 1:22 PM PDT

Hi!

From what I have herad the soundtrack sounds very well remastered.

  • 10.20.2011 1:25 PM PDT

"I will show you how a true Prussian officer fights!"

"And i will show you where the iron crosses grow..."

- "Cross of Iron"

It sounds pretty good.

Generalizations.
Helping idiots hate other idiots since people have existed.

I am afraid. Why?
Because it's not Marty O'Donnell. I HATE CHANGE >.<

I'm more interested in what will be in Halo 4. Halo CEA soundtrack is only being remastered, but they have to make a soundtrack from scratch for Halo 4.

Sounds great, but I think the original had more echo.

Agreed, taking that echo out removes the feeling of being in a vast, strange landscape.

As I understand it, the new composer is a renowned game composer, particuarly suited for reflecting emotions.

Thus far, he has proven himself with the deeply mysterious vibes, and in the case of the Director's Cut Awakening trailer, emotions that must be going through the characters' minds (in that trailer, I got a strong sense of being alone, all hope gone, and general sadness. The concept art of Cortana sitting atop a planet, crying, with a vast yet empty universe surounding her, seems indicative of a story revolving around being alone. For those interested, the art can be seen in a video of somebody filming the Halo 4 board at Halo Fest).
