Its not just win loss, it's also about who you beat division and % wise.

When i get rated i'll probably go straight to onyx becuase i beat some 15% onyx's at one stage.

Win percentage has nothing to do with your rank. What matters is who you are beating and who you are losing to. 18 games is nowhere near enough games to have a high TrueSkill.

Not true. I got placed in 45% Onyx with 21/25 games last season. But I also played every single game with my friend who was started at 15% Onyx and ultimately ended up at 2% Onyx, so I was consistently matching single digit Onyx players.

But if you're playing nobodies, it won't matter what your win percentage is. Having a high percentage puts you on a much faster track to ranking up (every game you win, the game will give you progressively better and better players, but if you lose, and the more you lose, the game thinks, "Hmm, this person probably belongs around this level.")

Summary: long winning streaks + better win percentage allows you to match up against Onyx players sooner, but you need to consistently beat Onyx players (or carry much lower ranked teammates against better opponents, eg. if your teammates were all Bronze and your opponents were all Gold) in order to get Onyx yourself.

Not to be rude or anything, but if you were 95% Gold in Season 8, you'll probably hit high Bronze/low Silver at best this time around. Season 8 had more than ten times the amount of players than Season 9 does. That means there is ten times fewer Onyx players, and so it's now ten times harder to get. If you couldn't get it in Season 8, then it's very unlikely you improved enough to become Onyx in Season 9.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

It all depends on how everyone else is doing that season. There really is no magic number.

Name's John. I'm a 21-year-old firefighter/EMT from lolhio who doubles as a die-hard Halo fan. I've been enjoying the franchise since 2001. My favorite iteration of Halo would have to be Halo 2 simply because I never got to experience the joy of a full-on Halo: CE LAN.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Oh yeah, and boot Zome.

Much more than I could achieve, that's for sure.

The min can be enough. Depends who you play and beat/lose to in that time.

Also win % does have something to do with who you match up. More you win the higher ranked players you get matched up with. Losses will make you play worse kids, even a single loss will take you a few wins to get back to playing better players.

If you're undefeated at 20-30 games and by this time you would have played some Onyx, you'll start to match top 20-10%. Around undefeated 35 games you'll match some single digits.

Population plays a part in this as well.

To answer the OP, Arena is based on Win/Loss and who you win/lose to.

Keep playing and keep winning. Don't just play the min and expect to be placed the highest. You should play 50-100 games to get a more accurate gauge of where you stand.

Doesn't matter what your service record says, quitting out of a game you're going to lose isn't going to prevent it from counting as a loss.

Those are still a loss.

"In Halo 3 not all 50's were good players, but all good players were 50's."

Your opinion is invalid.

Percentage of games you win doesn't matter as much as who you win against. You have to beat Onyx players consistently to get to Onyx quickly. Likewise for Gold, Silver, and Bronze. To get Iron you just need to start your xbox in Arena and go on vacation.

I've had terrible luck in Arena this season. Almost every single one of my Arena losses have been by 1-4 kills.

In memory of those fallen in the defense of Earth and her colonies.

March 3, 2553

I find it so ironic how all the Reachtards wanted a different ranking system other than Trueskill.

Arena is just winning and losing now, whatever happened to that individual performance crap.

Should have kept trueskill. It worked. Arena doesn't because like only 100 people play it at any time.

The original H2/H3 system was based on win/lose. Though the current Arena system isn't perfect, it is alot better than the previous iteration.

Really? That's strange, because there was over 800 in the playlist yesterday.

On topic. As a solo random I hit Onyx yesterday with 75 games. Normally if you aren't playing with team you won't be paired against high percentage Onyx. So it'll take longer to reach your goal.

Idk

You won 3 out of 4 games so you might go up. It all depends on who you won or lost against.
