I enjoyed myself. I used a 360 Controller and had a great time. Anyway, how long can it take to get guys in to a game your hosting?

Dont host games unless you have a really fast connection (at least t1), otherwise it will be very laggy, even with a solid cable connection. Just join other peoples games

its better to host a server rather than joining one, because unless youre connection is really bad (as TMH explained), 99% of the time, you get 0 ping, which is a good thing, because the less ping you have, the less laggier it will be for you

when you host a server though, be warned, it takes from 10-45 min. for a person to join. since youre the only one in your server, people wont want to join it. no one joins nearly empty servers, but some people in the halopc community fills the room up so you have to be patient. i should know, because i run my own server on a daily basis, but ive learned to deal with waiting for people to come. once people start flocking into your server, trust me, youll be having a helluva alot of fun

I would perfer to just join a server. Normally, no one will join your server unless your router has port forwarding on, otherwise people wont see it. Also, gerbox did a crap job with the netcode. Just a warning for future reference, ping is the amount of time in milliseconds it takes for your information to reach the host computer. The lower the ping the less lag. So when you join a server and have 100 ping, you are 0.1 seconds behind and have to aim AHEAD 0.1 seconds, or 1 or 2 feet.

P.S. Nice grammar lpjuunin, less laggier...

You should really lose the controller and get used to the mouse and keys...your precision and speed will grow like crazy and u`ll be kickin more ass than with the controller

when you host a server though, be warned, it takes from 10-45 min. I disagree Ipjuunin, it takes 2-20 minutes for me. Maybe it's because I use an interesting game name. I call my server "Good Fun Here" and people join it considerably quickly. First a person joins, then another, then another, so a steady trickle of people join the game, until it pours and we have a 16 player game. It used to take forever for a person to join my game though. I'd like to call my server "Master Kim's Server" but then no one would come in so I decided to make it "Good Fun Here". Being host equals being God, because basically you own everybody since you have no lag.

And I'll have to agree with M3T on that one. The mouse and keyboard is the way to go.

Hi, anyway, I find the controller better. I find the keyboard and mouse hard.

Many people who usually play consoles do. But trust me, with time, you will find the keyboard and mouse superior to the controller, that is if I don't bash in your mind with my PC fanatic propaganda first.

No, but seriously, you'll get owned by all the keyboard and mouse users out there online.

No, you find it unfamiliar. Going from keyboard/mouse to controller is hard. Aiming with a mouse is so much easier then with a controller. That's why HaloXbx and Halo2Xbx have auto-aim and Halo PC does not.

Yes, I couldn't have put it better myself Iggwilv.

That's why I have such high hopes about H2PC, where in order to get a headshot your crosshair actually has to be on their head. Sniping will actually require a skill and a steady hand.

All hail the PC for its keyboard and mouse configuration which dominates over all.

That's not to say that I don't like the controller however, I'm just saying that for first person shooters, reat time strategy games, and role-playing games, I prefer the keyboard and mouse. I grew up playing with the controller and the keyboard, just like a child growing under a Christian mother and a Jewish father. I never struggled in my transition between the PC and the console. But PCs are the best.

About the waiting times. I've just sat around waiting for someone to join my game for 1 hour and no one has came...

One thing that could help is making sure the name of your game is a friendly, attractive one, nothing racial, nothing too negative, just friendly, something like "All Are Welcome" is good. That makes more people want to play your game. Also, might want to get Xfire and instead of hosting, join someone's game.

As always, check for the obvious: password protected game, firewalls not allowing people to join, etc, etc.

Halo for PC is much better than its Xbox counterpart. The multiplayer itself makes it thousands of times better. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I consider the name an important factor in deciding if people will come to your server or not. For example, "Good Fun Here" attracts more people than "Master Kim's Server". That's why I use "Good Fun Here" instead.

You're welcome. It's good to help out a fellow Maw member.

Just remember it's easier to catch flies with honey than vinegar.

She means that honey is sweet and entising (interesting and exciting) but vinager is the opposite (repulsive, lack of interest, etc) and drives things away =-)

I had a 1.2 Ghz processor and a Nvidia Geforce FX 5200 and the graphics were not bad.. Then i upgraded to an AMD Athlon 64 bit 2 Ghz processor and 64 bit mother board and 6200 Nvidia geforce card... Now everything is a lot more crisp and you feel as though you're actually there! Lol

Although I'm glad someone got that analogy right, I'm a he, not a she.

Did you check your ports? Is your fire wall down, if you have one?

Sometimes there's just not a lot of players on Halo PC's lobby, so don't worry about it.

Ooohhh. So that is why there is auto-aim in Halo 2 on Xbox Live and no auto-aim on Halo PC I always wondered why they did that . Thanks for the info.
