Hey everybody, I want to get a new laptop. It is not going to be a gaming powerhouse, hopefully just enough to play Halo with mediocre graphics. It has a Integrated Intel Media Accelerator 900 graphics card and I was wondering if that is good enough. Right now my graphics are horrible, all the players are grey bad textures and stuff like that so I would like even a small upgrade from that.
P.S. Thanks in advance

integrated chips are bad for gaming. dont worry, Heero has a link in his sig to d/l a new driver for your intel integrated card. try to find one of his posts, and look in his sig.

the upgrade is pretty useful, you can see color, and land textures, but be warned, the visors on master chief will still be black, you wont be able to see grass on BG, and there will be no blood

They do make graphic cards for laptops, you should look into seeing how much they cost.

I can guarentee you that if you get a laptop with integrated graphics, you will have to keep it on the lowest settings. Integrated graphics are horrible

Same with me, my dad has an Integrated Chip and his plays Halo flawlessly. Tons better than mine because his is a newer one.

yea the resolution is probably lower than 800x600. Integrated chips are bad, sorry but if you have one you need realize it. No, this is not a flame, im just saying that theyre no good.

Just wondering since this is a post about graphics cards, is an ATI Radeon Xpress 200 series graphics card good?

Here you will need this to help you get your foot out of the back of your throat, looks llike its in there pretty deep. And what is that on your face? Egg?! *hands Kim a washcloth*

It isn't good, but it is better thant the crap intel GMAs.

Integrated chipsets? Guys, just wait until you buy a GPU. It doesn't even have to be a GeForce 7900 or a Radeon X1900 just get a GeForce 5500 or a Radeon 9600 and you'll see such a huge difference between crappy integrated cards and ATI or Nvidia cards, and you'll be asking yourself how you ever lived without them.

No integrated graphics are ever good. look into one with an ATI or gameworthy Nvidia, don't make the same mistake I did, crappy Nvidia Geforce 440 GO, no working drivers honestly exist for this thing.

Ok my advice that I've been giving since it came out, get the nvidia 6600GT. It comes in AGP and PCI-E, and its an amazing card for the price. Guarenteed to run halo at 1280x1024 with all settings high. Costs around $130-150. This is the minimum that I would suggest when upgrading your videocard, anything less is just a waste of money.

Yeah, that's my point. You'll see a huge improvement in graphics after you've moved on from integrated crapics cards.

You can add AGPS to dell mobos. I did it. Some compatibility issues, but got resolved with drivers.

Yeah, it's a midrange Integrated chipset. I use the same thing. Runs a decent game of Halo.

As for the Intel Accelerated Graphics, I would suggest finding a computer with an ATI or nVidia chipset. Those are usually more reliable in rendering stuff, and some of them can simulate a moderately high-end graphics card.

And for those suggesting to get a real Graphics Card, that's an impossiblitiy. He wants a laptop, remember?

My compy specs:

Compaq Presario V2000 series laptop computer
AMD Turion 64 Mobile clocking at 1.8
Mobility ATI Radeon Xpress 200
Windows XP SP2
DVD/CD burner combo drive
60GB HDD
512MB RAM (shared with ATI Chipset, and hence, I'm going to upgrade it someday to a decent amount instead of struggling along with a pathetic 360-some-odd MB avalible for use)
DX9
802.11 Wifi Connectivity (w00t!)

In Halo Custom Edition you have to download and play on the h2 maps. In regular Halo PC you cannot dual-wield.

How about one like this. Intel® CoreTM Solo Processor T1300
(1.66GHz/667MHz FSB/2MB Cache) 128MB ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X1300 HyperMemory™ Graphics card?
