O_O you looked at your friends balls when "he" sat on your head O_o

I think there should be another rank for active, helpful, and members who have been here a while. Give them the power to edit posts and lock threads and thats it. But i think that if there is such a rank, it should be mostly just to recognize that that member is a great part of the community more then showing he/she has certain power or something

Honestly I would just rather just have the rank change no power difference cause then people would abuse that power and change people's post and lock lots of threads just the rank change would be good for me

Everything will be gone long before me. When the first living thing was born, I was here, waiting. When the last living thing dies, my job is finished. I'll put the chairs on the tables, turn out the lights and lock the universe behind me when I leave.

I do like the idea of the thread creator moderating his own thread, but other than that, no.

Maybe...

Maybe not. Simply put, the reason there are so few ninja's (mods) is not because there aren't member's of the bnet community who have been around since the dawn of time and have been excellent members. Its because of two main reasons: 1) the ninja's have done enough to prove that they can be trusted with power and will be more helpful as a mod than just as a regular user, and 2) because the number of ninja's is already high enough at the moment. We don't need more, unless the mod's (or whoever) decide that they need more help than normal.

Of course, giving power to people is good and all, except that you cannot simply say that a group of people should be allowed to have power because they've been around longer than others. That's segregation, in a way. I could say that one member is trustworthy, but he's not been around for more than 2 months, while another member's been around for 2 years but is still getting weekly blacklistings. So time cannot play any factor in deciding it unless its for a certain reason.

As for editing other people's posts, don't bet on it. Won't happen, because if it does, then bnet will break down. There are too many opporitunities to do it, and even the best of members will eventually fall prey to doing it. Having the self-restraint to edit someone's post for reasons that may later have to be explained is very problematic.

And just the same, who is going to set up the new rank of people? Who will watch over these people running around bnet, some doing good and others doing bad? the bnet team already has enough on their hands just managing the forums. Sure, we all like to help, but that's why you can message a mod. So they can deal with it. Its not that difficult.

Lastly, if you think you deserve a higher rank than simply member, chances are you don't deserve crap. Its a serious job, one that requires alot of time and work. Sure, you get free shwag, but you're giving up time for it. And if you think that you are trustworthy, that's very nice. Prove it. Can't do it so easily, can you? Being chosen to be a mod is not just a game of pick and choose, its an educated guess to who can be trusted enough, after watching them long enough, determining whether they A) deserve it, B) can handle it, and C) will benefit the site by having it.

Thus the reason mod's all say "You don't ask us, we ask you." Asking only lets them know that you aren't here to make sure everything goes smoothly. It means your here for the rank, and the honor and dignity that goes with it. As for extra ranks, its just another excuse to have more power, and be better than everyone else. If you have something to prove go play a sport.

No, that would be abused/manipulated. It is a bad idea.
