The abundance of 'Girl advice' threads in the Flood.

Are these against the rules at all? Honestly, I find them irritating. 90% of the time it's just full of 14 year olds who are socially awkward and depressed.

I must admit, when I first came to the Flood I'm pretty sure I made one too, but I was banned for it. After that I realised that only I could fix my problems; posting an embarrassing post on bungie.net about a girl wasn't going to help at all.

Anyone else annoyed by these threads?

I don't see anything in the rules regarding those threads, specifically, no, but I'm sure if they were to clearly violate the rules and regulations, they would be considered an offense.

Also, no, I have never been annoyed by them.

:-)

Lurking like a baws. Totally. It's like totally important if I post because I barely post.

...

WHO EVEN LOOKS AT SIGNATURES ON BUNGIE.NET ANYWAY???

Teenagers will be teenagers, and as such, it's impossible to not have girl advice thread on the Flood.

Let them be. The threads never bothered me too much, and if you don't like them, why don't you refrain from entering that kind of thread?

True I guess.

I refrain myself from replying to the threads, though I get curious and look at the OP sometimes. It's not necessarily the topic that I have a problem about, it's the group of users who go on and on about how they're "forever alone" that's annoying.

:)

I enjoy those threads. So full of naivety and hilarity.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

There used to be something about how no-one wants to hear about your love life in the rules. I don't think it's in the "New rules! New rules!" though.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

These type of threads dont bother me, honestly.

I always get a laugh from the members that joke around, but then you can learn stuff from for the more competent members that actually post useful info.

And it's always intriguing to find out what girl problems another member is having, and what he plans to do about it.

I dont really find them annoying and besides everybody knows that in order to get a girl you have to have a cat.

Chief vs the scarab? I find that hard to believe to roundhouse boot the scarab's figurative emotion out of the gaming zone.

You know, there's a ton of stuff on the radio that just bugs the hell out of me. Instead of petitioning the stations to get rid of it though, I just don't listen to any of it instead.

Same sort of thing applies here, but with your eyes.

ooga booga boooh

Some of the girl threads actually have some great discussion coming out of them. Great advice in some cases. They're no different from the repeat threads we see in any other forum.

If it's bloggish than it usually gets locked. But if it is for legitimate advice, why not?

I don't think they're against the rules, but if it just becomes a flame war (as most of those threads I've seen, have.) More than likely it'll get locked and certain people will be issued bans.

Plus, what I don't understand, is why would someone want to ask info like that from the Flood? People are just gonna troll the OP for doing it. I'd not ask help with that sort of stuff in the Flood EVER.

*cough*

Just like with all advice, relationship advice can create some interesting discussions. Advice threads used to be against the rules, but since the revamp, they are not.

I'm glad they're not, they keep things somewhat interesting.

I think there should be an official "I can't get a girl thread" just to keep them from popping up like moles or whatever those things are that do the stuff...

There, now that's a contribution.

*Ahem*

There's really nothing new, in my opinion. Teens will be teens, and it's the brutal reality of a teenage gamer. Now if Halo weren't so uniquely crafted to target the younger audiences, we probably wouldn't be seeing it as such a big problem as we do now.

In due time, they'll grow up and be saying the same thing everyone else is, "Tell her and shut up."

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

You may find them annoying but they promote discussion and aren't breaking any rules.
