I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

Bungie has plenty of smart and creative minds. If a member wants to be a inter for Bungie that badly, then I suggest majoring in your selected job and becoming an employee.

So more of them would be a bad thing?
If a member wants to be a inter for Bungie that badly, then I suggest majoring in your selected job and becoming an employee. Then it wouldn't be an internship. Most people don't go to college knowing the specific job they will want to pursue after they graduate; they pick an area of interest and try to narrow it down. An internship with a game company would be the best way to get an idea of what specific type of direction you would like to pursue. It gives a glimpse into what the job actually entails; more than a major will ever do.

This would also be a chance for Bungie to conduct performance reviews and look for potential candidates to offer jobs to. Watching someone do the job in the environment for a month or two will give you more insight into their talent and work ethics than a resume and interview will.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

Wait a sec, I thought this "Forum Ninja" thing WAS an unpaid internship.

Are you saying this isn't the path to a career at Bungie? ARE YOU SAYING I CAN'T PUT THIS ON MY RESUME?

You just have to be creative with it.

The real question is why you're overly bothered by the recruitment/talent policies of a Washington based company.

I'll copy and paste something I wrote for a similar thread. I think it applies here.

Bungie actually does do internships, but not like other internship. They only really do them for engineering positions, because internship for any other position at the studio wouldn't really make sense for an internship (art, design, writing). You would really only hire full time or contract for those kind of positions. With those positions you really have the talent that Bungie is looking for or you don't.

But from what my friend tells me, interns get interviewed like real employees. They have to go through the whole math mind crunching part like everyone else. Also, when they are looking to hire an intern, they are looking for potential employees and it's quite often when they hire an intern, they get employed after awhile. Also from what my friend tells me, they push out code to the games just like any engineer on their team.

Long story short. Internships yes. Many of them, absolutely not. Chances of getting one, slim to none [edit: Doesn't really apply to this thread, the guy wanted an internship with relatively no experience, but if you have a BS in CS, you have a chance]. They mostly look for employees.

Also, yeah it's kind of a person to person thing. They don't really advertise them on the front of the website. Kind of like JonnyOThan.

Also, are we sure Skip Weasel is an actual person? I thought it was just a joke. I don't think Bungie would hire a 15 year old, I thought that was the joke part of it.

Some interns get paid. I made $22.50 an hour as an intern.

Perhaps that is a good way to judge what you guys want to do in college. Ask yourself, "Do interns in that field get paid?" If the answer is "No" then pick a different profession, because more than likely that means you won't make any money after you graduate either.

They hire only one intern. The poor guy has to do all of the boring work for the entire office. And it's not even a paid internship.
Is this fact or fiction?

Would I ever lie?

p much. These days, if the internship is worth doing, you're going to be paid. Engineering and finance in particular pay stupidly well. It's in everyone's interest to pay interns; if the internships are unpaid, the only people who can apply to them are those with personal/familial financial backing, and that limits the talent pool quite a lot. Throw in the fact most firms treat internships as extended job interviews and the days of getting the coffee eight hours a day for the cost of your lunch and travel are long gone.

The only field that springs to mind where unpaid internships still exist where people get paid mad dollar while working there properly is law, but -blam!- lawyers.

Non-profits in D.C. offer fairly good internships for little or no pay.

File them with law internships.

Which is coincidental, because filing is mostly what law interns do.

The nature of the way the video games are made means that there is a lot of sensitive material that can't be seen by anyone but the team right up until launch. Having interns coming and going increases the chance of things being leaked, and so it is very rarely done in the industry, especially at large studios like Bungie where anyone who gets hired already needs a lot of experience.

The key point was "pays you well when you get there". The music industry and politics are also overflowing with who-you-know unpaid internships but none of them are particularly glowing career choices.
