This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Although including Drop Six was slightly redundant I felt the need to get all of them in one spot.

Very interesting how Reach was just a trap all along. I wonder if Noble didn't destroy LNoS would RED FLAG have been a success.

Nice job.

In the thread here on the Universe Forum of Data Drop 5, we had a pretty big argument over if LNoS could have been taken by the detachment of Spartan II's that were taking place in RED FLAG alongside the ODST's that were going to support them.

It was kind 50-50, but I was on the group that said they perfectly could, and some very valid points were put into place.

343 seem to be really vilifying ONI, I've noticed. There's always been a little of that, but it's really stepped up a gear lately.

Half of it on fire? If you are talking about Condemned, that map is set on the 30th technically.

No, I'm talking about the cutscenes in the game before the 30th, where there are plumes of fire spotted all over it.

Hey, now!

This is officially either the greatest or worst thing to ever happen to Star Wars. I'm going with the former.

Probably to tie in with Glasslands, as I understand that ONI will be having a bit of an antagonistic feel to it, not really an enemy, but more of a 'are they doing what's best for the UNSC and humanity, or what's best for ONI' vibe to it, or at least that's how I interpreted it.

It's also probably just to show that ONI wasn't just a benevolent defender of humanity, they did some seriously wacked up -blam!-.

To put it short, ONI is pretty much equal to Cerberus... They do anything to protect humanities interests.

But you know, without the whole siding with the Reapers deal.

Telcam doesn't want humanity destroyed, just wants the Arbiter in the ground.

Telcam doesn't want humanity destroyed, just wants the Arbiter in the ground.

We can be sure that it is on his agenda. Baby steps for him just now. No Humanity means no interference from anyone in his quest to impose his religion. He made the claim that Humans must not "slander" his Gods, so what is to stop him from turning around and suddenly demanding that Humanity stop tampering with Forerunner artifacts some time down the line, citing them as being "holy" and whatnot as per his religious beliefs? Believing that the Sangheili are the ones with the divine connection, and that they should have the relics, creates a mutual incompatibility between the Sangheili and Humanity; competition. He would be free to claim Forerunner technology unchallenged if there was no Humanity. He has much to gain by destroying them.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

I have a feeling we will see a secret seventh data drop one day (Kind of like the secret terminal that doesn't count in Halo 3).

This is true, but we need to know more about his agenda before anything. I'm just going by what I see right now: he's teamed up with some humans to try and take out the Arbiter. For all we know, Telcam's view on Forerunner artifacts could conform to the ancient Elite society of their being off limits, or he could view them differently, and may not see our tampering as sacrireligious.

But all will be answered in two days. Followed by more questions, to be sure.

That filled in a few gaps. Drop Six is kind of harrowing... they really didn't know. So ONI sacrificed Reach for RED FLAG. That's pretty messed up. I wish they put this in Halo Reach, it would have given us something to make sense of at least. And then the game could have raised an ethics and morality question as well: Do the ends always justify the means?

I wouldn't be surprised, 7 being there favorite number and all. It only makes sense

7 was Bungie's favorite number, not 343's, though I'm sure that they'll continue it.

Not a chance.

RED FLAG would have been a total bloodbath. It was an insane last ditch manoeuvre and it was very fortuitous that they never got the chance.

It throws Nobles actions into a new light too, especially Jorge. If he handnt blow up that carrier, they might have tried to use it for red flag and never would have got to Halo. Jorge didnt save the planet, but he helped win the war.

They made it count in the end Jorge bro, they made it count in the end ;_;

I love how Stanforth described it being pretty much ''tactical suicide''.

He could have no been more correct.
