Subject: What I hope doesn't happen to Halo 4...

Fire.

I really hope that 343i does not carry on in the direction that Halo: Reach was going. They need to remove armor abilities (including sprint), and bring back the Battle Rifle.

We all know that the BR and AR were HUGE in creating the Halo franchise, and who didn't love the BR?

That being said, I liked Halo: Reach, but I don't want Halo 4 to carry in that direction. It seems like it's changing from what Halo truly is too much. I understand why Reach is different, and I also like how they did it, but I truly hope 343 goes back to the way Halo 3 and ODST were.

Reach was meant to be something different so they didn't have to start another story to have 343 finish. I just hope 343 realizes that, and makes the Halo game we all want.

Its better to burn out than fade away...

nothing comes easy....think about it ;)

I agree, it would really mess with the story line if they put the weapons and abilities from reach into it, though i do like armour abilities and the weapons.

But yeah they should continue using the weapons and other things from the original trilogy to avoid confusion in the story line.

We dont welcome cod here or at least i.

Yeah I totally agree. I liked Reach as its own game, but it did lose that certain nostalgic feeling that I get when I play the original Halo trilogy. I don't expect to see the DMR make a return, seeing as it was just a prototype on Reach. I also hope armor abilities are out. They were fun for a little while, but it takes away from the original Halo feel and flow.

I agree with the removal of all armour abilities and the return of the BR, the DMR is cool but you just can't compare to the original.

Yo.

Youre gonna regret that >:)

I haven't played Reach nearly as much as halo 3, or halo CE for that matter, it's hard to pinpoint exactly what it was about reach that it was missing, but the additions obviously may have been somewhat detrimental.

I chalk it up to not feeling like Halo. The games had a sense of mystery and wonder that even ODST--the only game to take place entirely in what should be the most familiar environment, Earth--managed to capture beautifully. Reach was basically CoD in space, with a hole ridden story, generic characters, and soulless storytelling (except for Jorge).

Not to mention canon breaches, which I can now no longer see as breaches in a modern sense (thank god), but still can't quite forget the fact that we had to wait a whole year for them to be filled in by another studio.

It was just bland, and I'm really glad Bungie's done. It was the best choice for them as a company for morale even. I get the sense they were tired of doing Halo, however much a special place it has in their minds. 343i is fresh talent, is uber excited, and seems highly passionate and eager to create Halo 4. They can bring back the sense of wonder and enigma Halo was known for, and so far, they're doing it beautifully with Halo 4.

I don't like the Battle Riffle, it's probably the most unbalanced weapon ever created for a videogame. Add the fact that dual-wielding is no longer as powerful as it was in the prequel (in Halo 2, dual-wielding damage was the result of combining two weapons, in Halo 3 they decided to tone down the damage, truly ruinning the purpose of the mechanic), and well... long story short, why make a weapon that everyone wants? There is no balance, and in the end, barely any strategy with the weapons. It's just the BR and the Sniper Riffle.

Halo 3 is my favorite Halo to date because it had the best elements of both Halo:CE and Halo 2, the main flaw being that Halo 3 didn't had it's own awesomeness, but still, it worked. However, the BR is no longer missed, it made the weapon system unbalanced.

Seriously the BR is the halo ce pistol which has bigger mass...seriously its my fav weapon in halo 2 and i kill with it easly just like the pistol in CE.

"I never miss..."[/b]

I think in Halo reach they added too many features that makes the game easier for new rookies but more confusing for old halo 2/3 players. All these abilities (shield, jet ack...) I mean WTF ? And over all, where's the Br ?? It was like so handy and at the same time, requieres skill to master it.

I believe Halo 4 will be different since we are coming back with the real master chief and not a band of homies shooting. Halo 4 is basically the continuity of Halo 3 so maybe besides one or two new weapons, one or two vehicles, and new armors, I doupt their will be a radical change such as in Halo Reach.

Drop the concept of AA's AND Equipment all together to be honest.
Equipment made H3 less fun to me, and AA's (although it works in Reach, sort of...) are good in concept but fail in practice as it creates classes that don't fit Halos core gameplay.
However: keep Sprint but make it a standard feature to all players and no pick up. Maybe have Jetpack return, but more effectively.

Bring Invisibility and Overshield back to classic pick ups H:CE-H2 style and you've got a more classic (and as far as I'm concerned more fun) experience.

Oh: And no more pulled out of campaign MP maps! Seriously, let 343i team up with Certain Affinity for that one because they have been making epic Halo maps forever.

As for weapons: both BR and DMR could be back. DMR for slower rate, but higher stopping power medium-long range rifle.
BR for closer combat, semi automatic rifle action. DMR works well on big maps, BR works well on small to medium maps...

That being said: I do hope 343i has the balls to take H4 into their own direction and not go the same path as H3 went and pick up there without any changes. ODST and Reach have both shown new ideas can make Halo feel fresh again, although also missing on some occasions. Changes to Halo can work, and are needed for it to avoid feeling stale...but please make them work well with the core gameplay of Halo.

Still using a pump-action shotgun over 500 years in the future I see.

omg not realistic stop game production plz

Yeah, I'm hoping for a Battle Rifle return as well...one can hope.

  • 10.22.2011 4:57 AM PDT

amen bro! Reach was an utter FAILURE. The BR is a weapon which deserves to be held by a true SPARTAN 2 not the P ussy weak Spartan 3's which are nothing more than Spartan 2 wannabes.

The DMR is basically a slower version of the Carbine, but with G ay bloom to makes it even more slower. And yes for the love of god I hope all AA's are removed. They tried the whole AA thing and apparently it didn't work at all how they thought it would.

Make Halo 4 more like Halo 2 with better graphics and with Halo 3 grenades which are perfect and better in every way to all Halos, and the Halo:CE pistol.

  • 10.22.2011 10:05 AM PDT

I think They should keep 2 armor abilities being sprint and evade. I think they should bring back battle rifle and covenant sniper rifle. 2 armor pieces that should come back is the rogue helmet and if possible the katana armor piece.

*activates time-machine and sets the clock back to Nov. 9, 2004*
glory days here I come..

....And then all the reviewers and fans from other games will say Halo 4 is the exact same as Halo 3.

Yes, I AM just that awesome.

Sprint should at least be in there. You're a genetically enhanced super soldier, you can sprint.

So what? True fans know what they're talking about. Besides, we all know if you play CoD, you don't know anything. It's exactly the same game every year.

Why? Because I want the BR back?

I just don't want them to make Halo: Reach 2.

Funniest post I've seen in a while. The BR isn't the only weapon in the game, and neither is the Sniper Rifle. If you really dislike it so much, use a different weapon. Not everyone gets BR/Sniper combos when they spawn, and there's usually only one Sniper on a map with a few clips of ammo. Not to mention the BR isn't all over the place in H3 anyway (if you've ever played it that is).

  • 10.25.2011 1:01 PM PDT

United Armed Forces

BR destroys weapon balance
People can't adapt to AA's so they complain (I did, it doesn't destroy gameplay, it just adds new elements to it and people want the same old stale Halo all the time and don't like change, no u)

BR is everywhere in Halo 3. I don't know what universe you're in, but if it's not BR spawns, I rush to find a carbine or BR. I know exactly where every one spawns in default variants. That overpowered PoS is everywhere.

ODST was absolutely amazing. Why? It forced you to use weapons other than the BR.(aside from great story, and firefight, of course) You actually USED the sandbox.

Of course, this is beside the point.

I understand nothing because my life is a conspiracy.

So make it Halo 3 with worse graphics. Got it.
