Subject: Halo story from begining to finish without having to read a whole book

Im trying to make a very simple storyline for halo, but still include everything.

here it goes

CHAPTER 1

Prehistoric

First there were precursers, the most advanced race ever to exist. they have a long history that we have no knowlage of.

later on came the forunners and a prehistoric human empire, which later alied with the San'Shyuum(the prophets).

some time later there was a forunner-precurser war, and despite the odds, the forunners suceeded in destroying the precursers, but the precursers had a failsafe, there last act of revenge was to release the flood.

the human empire was the only empire that riveled the forunners, and were the first to confront the flood. after losing many planets, the humans desperatly invaded a minor section of forunner space, thus starting the Human-Forunner war.

fighting a war on 2 fronts, human forces were stretched to thin. eventually the humans discovered a cure to the flood, winning the human-flood war, but the forunners deafeated us and we were devolved to the caveman era. as one act of revenge, we destroyed all the data on the flood, including the cure.

notice all the revenges the forunners are taking.

well the forunners soon made contact with the flood, but they treated it like a desease rather then a invading army. at some point they released an ai called medicant bias. its job was to seek and destroy the gravemind.

it did find it but it ended in a very long conversation lasting 45 years. eventually it joined the flood and led the flood fleets against the forunners. the forunners could have stoped it during those 45 years but they assumed that it would carry out its orders and kill it eventually.

with medicant bias on the enemy side, the forunners started losing worse, and sometimes ended up destroying entire star systems to slow down the flood. now as a fail safe of there own, the forunners created the halo array, several shield worlds and the ark.

while the forunners were in a civil war about whether to fire halo or not, the flood were grouping for an attack on the maginot line, the forunners barrier between what it could protect and what it left for the flood.

eventually, it was decided that the rings need to be fired.
the forunners sent samples of all speicies to the ark to repopulate the galaxy once the flood was gone, while the ai offensive bias prepared to defend the maginot line.

after a lenghthy battle, the tides turned when the array fired and destroyed most of the flood, the unmanned forunner ships then destroyed medicant bias's keyship, although he had made a copy of himself that ended up in high charity.

after the array fired, keyships from the ark set out to repopulate the galaxy. aside from a few samples on each halo, the flood was wiped out.

CHAPTER 2

Rise of the covenant

i could type out all there long names, but ill use the game names.

it started with first contact between the Elites and the prophets. they soon went to war for over 86 years.the elites had the upperhand until the prophets used there forunner keyship to push them back. the elites lost but they created a alliance known as the covenant.

the next race to join was the hunters, followed by drones, jackals and grunts(huge rivals) and finaly brutes(rivals to elites). As a capital, the city high charity was build around the forunner dreadnought.

CHAPTER 3

Second rise of humanity

soon humanities homeworld was not big enough to support its population, so humans expanded to the rest of the solar system. after the invention of the slipspace drive, humans could expand as much as they wanted, and earths territory expanded to include over 800 colonies.

but eventually, things started to come apart, insurrectionist killed billions in terrorist attacks and we were on the brink of civil war. to combat this threat, ONI started the Orion project(an example is sarg. johnson) which would eventually turn into the spartan program, humanities greatest weapon.

NEW

CHAPTER 4

first contact/harvest

it started with reports that some freighters were being
raided near a planet called harvest. sarg. johnson and several other marines were put on a frieghter to see what was attacking them.

the ships were being raided by jackal pirates and after johnson fought them off they returned to harvest. soon they came into contact with the prophets who wanted to research forunner artifacts on harvest. they had a device that showed locations of forunner artifacts.

soon they realised the humans were the artifacts and with the entire religion of the covenant a lie, the prophets hide all information and orderd the invasion of harvest. the UNSC sent renforcements but there ships were no match for the covenants.

Fighting on harvest lasted for 5 years with the control changing frequently. the spirit of fire came to investigate some ruins the covenant were held up in. along with doctor anders, they discovered the map in the ruins pointed straight to arcadia, another human colony.

when the spirit of fire got there, they found it under attack, after assisting in evacuating civilians, they launched and attack on the covenant shield protecting a small area of interest. once it was down, they investigated, but professor anders was kidnaped.

she was taken on a ship to a unknown planet where she was forced to activate a dormant forunner fleet inside a planet. the spirit of fire chased after them, that was the last anyone heard of the spirit of fire. they got to the planet where they discovered the flood on the surface.

the professor from the covenant through a teleporter, she was teleported to the surface where she almost became flood food, were it not for some spartans that captain cutter had sent up to the surface. they realised that they could not let this forunner fleet be used against earth, so the used there slipspace drive to make the star go supernova, destroying the planet.

the spirit of fire escaped and its crew went into cryosleep for the long ride home. the arbiter was killed by sarg. forge ealier, but the prophet of regret escaped.

CHAPTER 5

early war

at the begining of the war, humanity was protecting all the colonies at once.
Admiral Cole fought the covenant at every turn, loseing many more of his own ships then the enemies. but he still saved millions of lives. to slow the covenant down, he created the Cole protocal. anyship that was being attacked or chased by covenant ships must delaet all information regarding any eath colonies, especially reach and earth.

this slowed the covenant considerably, but they kept coming.

CHAPTER 6

Fall of reach

Reach was humanities military capital, and its best protected colony. it was dicovered when captain keys returned to it, unintentionally bringing a homing device with him.

The covenant were first discovered when noble team went to investigate visigrad relay. they soon discovered a cloaked supercarrier, long night of solace, in orbit above reach. the UNSC sent 60 percent of its remaining fleets to defend reach.

meanwhile, operation uppercut had suceeded in destroying the carrier, but the celebration was short lived as the covenant sent a huge fleet to destroy reach.

to put the fleet in perspective, it was 50 times the size of the fleet regret sent againts earth. that fleet had 12 CCS battlecruisers and 2 supercarriers. so this fleet was about 600 battlecruisers and 100 supercarriers, not to mention all the small corvettes and fighters. the only ships that hummanity was even close to evenly matched in is fighters.

reach was doomed, halsy sent cortana with noble team to get of planet in the pillar of autumn. due to noble teams brave sacrifices, the pillar of autumn made it off planet safely and made a random jump(although it wasnt random) to try and lose the covenant attackers. thats when they stumbled on installation 04.

im going to take another break, then finish of halo 1 2 and odst.

Cryptum.

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

Oh yeah, the 800+ colonies number is not true as far as I can tell, I am not sure though. I think there's something about that in the "rules to halo canon" thread.

  • 10.21.2011 10:40 PM PDT

i specificly remember reading, over 800 colonies, but that was awhile ago, they may have added more.

"Bungie doesn't like to retcon (i.e., deliberately change previously established facts), but sometimes it's necessary. Take for example the issue of the number of human worlds. The truth about the "800+" number? That was made up by a non-Bungie employee and never approved by us before the Halo: CE promotional website went live."

Reading about Halo in 'storyline order' sort of spoils the story, similar to Star Wars.

Actually, while I am here, this is the order I would say is best to read/play the Halo games and books if you were to play and read every game and novel. (This is not storyline order nor the order they were released in, just the best way to avoid spoilers).

Halo Reach
Halo: Combat Evolved
Halo: CONTACT HARVEST
Halo: THE COLE PROTOCOL
Halo: THE FALL OF REACH
Halo: THE FLOOD
Halo: FIRST STRIKE
Halo 2
Halo: GHOSTS OF ONYX
Halo 3: ODST
Halo 3
Halo: CRYPTUM (and the rest of the FORERUNNER SAGA)
Halo: GRASSLANDS
Halo 4 (and the rest of the RECLAIMER TRILOGY)

Have I forgotten anything?

and earths territory expanded to include over 800 colonies.

They are not all colonies, just worlds within the Human sphere of influence. The number of actual colonies was significantly smaller. Most of those worlds were military, research or listening outposts, mining worlds or worlds with some other small operation going on.

Millions, not billions.

Lord Hood was clearly exaggerating when he said that. He exaggerated about half of Africa being glassed. It certainly did not look all that glassed at the end of the game nor could 10 Covenant ships do such a thing in any reasonable amount of time. The old TFoR supports 314 ships. I doubt that 150 Human ships and 20 SMACs could nail two thirds of a Covenant fleet consisting of 700 ships.
