Yes you get it from microsoft.com and it is a collection of fixes for Windows XP. You ALWAYS want to make sure your running the latest Service Pack on any Microsoft OS. To find out if you have it go to the Control Panel and then into System. On the first page it should say

System:
Windows XP
Professional
Version 2002
Service Pack 2

If yours doesn't say Service Pack 2 you need to go to microsoft and dowload the ~200MB SP2 patch and run it.

Try Here

I don't exactly what is does and you may not need it BUT it always recommended that you have the latest service pack installed so that any problems that were fixed don't give you any problems

They're called text markup tags, dude. You know, that box of handy little self-explanatory words to put in your posts, in this case, links?

Sometimes the obvious needs to be stated.

Oh, boy, where to begin. Okay, first, the benefits of SP2.

Better security, a pop up blocker, network protection, memory protection, improved email security, and safer browsing. A whole lot of good stuff that will help you out.

Now tell me, what's your graphics card? Is it 256 mb? If so, I do not recommend you take Service Pack 2. Don't pretend to be dramatic and say stuff like "omg if i don't dload dis my computer is going to exploed (please ignore panic in my voice)", when it's seems you've been going fine without it. Service Pack 1 is not a bad thing.

See, here's the thing. There's an incompatibility issue between Service Pack 2, Halo PC, and high-end computers. Now, if you've got one of those crappy integrated chipset computers, you're fine. You have anything better though, like a 256 mb card, then we have the problem. Halo PC shuts off after you turn on the application unless you download the patch and start the game again, but then all of your files (player profiles, gametypes) become useless and you can't use them with your new SP2 installed Halo PC. At least that's what happened to me.

LOL. Okay good for you.

You can get high end video cards to be compatible with Halo PC on Service Pack 2, I'm sure. Just use 128 mb cards or something.

oh ok, i have no problems with my integrated chips, but which chips do you recommend i can use to highly increase my graphics, and is compatible with SP2?

but then again, most graphics card i drool myself over, cost quite alot. i know most of you are 18+ and already have a job which allows you guys to afford these high end graphics card, but im still in school, and i dont think ill be able to make like 130-150 dollars, let alone i need that money for other things...

Yeah, I agree with WindrunnerX. For those of you with tight budgets who want to get out of integrated chipset purgatory and get a chance to sample some heaven get the 5500. Although by this week's standards some of the crappiest cards yet, it will be a ginormous improvement over your crappy chipsets.

I'm pretty sure you can get a GeForce 5500 for around a hundred bucks. Go to CompUSA or Best Buy, they'll have it.

The real expensive newest ones out there cost like what, $500-600 dollars?
