Works fine here both on and off wifi. It's possible whatever wifi access point your using is blocking ports or doing some other weird packet mangling that's breaking the app (I haven't taken a look to see what ports the app uses to talk with bungie.net).
For the record, I have a Nexus One on T-Mobile, running Gingerbread/Cyanogenmod 7.1.
I see what your saying however every other app I have is working fine on wi-fi just the Bungie app that has issues!
Is it possible that it's the app not communicating with my hub rather than the hub confusing the app? I have pimped my hub for open NAT so hoping this isn't affecting it? But then everything else is tickety boo!
