Lately I've noticed that people think that the Universe forum is the new Halo forum.

From Halo 3, to Halo 2 and even Halo Reach, threads discussing their gameplay are being made regularly. Sure, they're easy to avoid, but it seems like a problem.

I'm not sure if it's just because it's a slow moving forum, but these offtopic threads seem to be more prominent than they are in other forums.

Something needs to be done. Either find a way to make sure people know where to take their Halo gameplay related questions or take the time to make sure people know what the forum is actually for.

Well, I can see why it is a common mistake.

People may think that by "Bungie Universe", they assume that it's something Halo related because of Bungie's prior involvement in Halo. And probably because the Halo forums are not visible in the drop down menu anymore.

One of the only ways to "fix it" would be to put them (the Halo forums) back in the menus, but I don't see that happening.

To discuss the...Bungie Universe? Or the universes of Bungie games?

EDIT: Checked it out, seems to be filled with spam.

So if it is to discuss Bungie games, then is Halo not a Bungie game? Last time I checked, on the box and when I start them up it brings up a "Bungie" intro-y thingy screen.

Extract taken from the official document:

The Bungie Universe Forum is for discussion of all elements of the storyline, backstory, plotline, and canon elements of all Bungie games, including Halo, Marathon, Oni, Myth, and others. Additionally, this forum is for discussion about Bungie's potential future projects.

Talking about the Halo universe is fine; talking about that "Epic double kill with the pistol last night" isn't.

Yax is a shining beacon in these dark times. You should all strive to be more like Yax.

You mean it isn't? Well it probably should be. Also these rules need updating:

* Halo gameplay threads are prohibited in this forum. Use the appropriate Halo-specific forum to discuss gameplay from Halo games.

* Multiplayer and Matchmaking discussion do not belong in this forum. Discuss it in the relevant game forum or the Optimatch forum.

I thought the Bungie universe was one of those untouchable forums. *single tear for the B.net*

Hey, now!

This is officially either the greatest or worst thing to ever happen to Star Wars. I'm going with the former.

Well, the Ninjas have been cracking down, as you can see the plethora of locked threads, so it's not as big of a deal.

While it is nice to see the Ninjas cracking down, the vast amount of spam is pushing more valid and interesting discussion off the front page.

cars, girls & cake all day everyday

Sometimes it's hard to let go...

And here I thought the push from Bungie's forums to 343's forums for Halo related content was nearing its end....after Halo CE:A will most likely cause more topics to pup up regarding DLC or something like that.

Well, if the discussion is active, it'll bubble back up to the top, just like any forum.

Please don't hype for games...
They'll just fall short of your expectations and you'll complain for months.

Nah, even after CEA's release, people will be driven away from those forums for how cluttered and unprofessional those forums are perceived by many.

Ah, just leave 'em alone. Waypoint probably doesn't work for them and they aren't awesome enough to post here yet.

  • 10.24.2011 6:23 PM PDT

ISU Cyclones!

Honestly, I doubt it's any more than people being too lazy to navigate an extra page to get to the Reach, or Halo 3 forum since the Universe forum is the easiest to link to.

  • 10.24.2011 8:32 PM PDT

Yeah some aspects of the reorginization were badly handled. Community should appear above Universe, which is a more specialised forum.

And optimatch should have been locked and archived somewhere, i cant believe they just deleted 5 years of work chronicling the rise and evolution of matchmaking which has now taken over the industry, what the hell bungie.

Positive vibes.

Some people think that The Flood Forum is the Bungie Community Forum.

Some people think that the Crimson Forum is, well, the Crimson Forum...

Anyway, do you understand what I'm saying? People will always post threads in the wrong forums. There's really no way to put an end to it, completely; at least not one that I know of.

Why are you reading my signature? Who actually opens these things and reads them!

And as always, SEND ME A PM. Please. Or really bad things will happen to you.

I bet most members don't even know how to navigate to the list of all the forums. New members want quick attention and very few are going to follow instructions when they are told to post in a forum that seems obscure and out of the way because it's not in the drop down.

  • 10.25.2011 7:41 AM PDT

Bungie is no longer managing the Halo Universe. While our Halo-related forums and stats remain available, be advised that "official" answers and support about the Halo Universe (past, present, or future) are not.

They try, but some people are just a little persistant, or they just didn't get the memo.
