Subject: Difficulty putting thoughts into words.

The Stig is dead to me
-Carrick

I have had this a lot recently. Have you ever come upon a discussion that you have an opinion on, and feel that you can contribute a point that will fuel the topic, but simply cannot put your thoughts into words?

I've tried and tried again to think how I can write some responses to threads but have been completely unable to succeed, and the post usually ends up being half a sentence of utter balls.

Do you ever get that? How do you overcome it?

feel that you can contribute a point that will fuel the topic,

I've never had that feeling.

I get that feeling all the time. I usually just drop it and continue lurking.

This is the way the world ends;
Not with a bang but a whimper.

Contributing to a topic? What madness is this?

I never really get that feeling either, although I do find that I am unable to express my thoughts on some topics as well as I would like to occasionally.

Reading how over people have expressed their views can help, as there is usually someone who shares a similar view to me, so I can use their post for inspiration (although I still include my own thoughts/ideas, obviously). If I am unable to express my thoughts in a way I am happy with, I generally just don't post them, and lurk instead.

Yes.

My backspace button got an ass whuppin while writing this.

How do I write it without sounding angry, or whining, or attacking anyone? I told Foman that I wouldn't use his PM in "one of those "I hate the mods they suck" topics". How do I write a topic about a negative aspect of the moderation without going into that area?

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

I take a break. Go for a walk, take a shower, play with the dogs, listen to some music. And while doing that, I run the points that I want to get across through my head. I consider how to best arrange them, good solid sentences that make a point, and then when I get back to the computer, I put those sentences down and then fill in between them with linking/connecting statements.

This is what I ended up doing while thinking of what to write yesterday.

I just spew out whatever words come to mind, write it down, then try to explain myself later when everybody says that I wasn't being clear at all.

What's up with all the -blam!-ing negativity?
Stop it.

Pretty much this.

Occasionally. I usually give up shortly after.

What can I say? I'm lazy.

You imply a level of control over Halo: Reach matchmaking that we no longer have. Or, in your vernacular, it isn't our shiznit anymore.

THIS is why I can't type anything phenomenal in one sitting. Remembering and arranging thoughts in my head while doing a relaxing activity does wonders for me. I sometimes take a quick shower just to get control of the chaotic ideas flying around in my head.

And the Shadow fell upon the Land, and the World was riven stone from stone. The oceans fled, and the mountains were swallowed up, and the nations were scattered to the eight corners of the World. All was shattered, and all but memory lost, and one memory above all others, of him who brought the Shadow and the Breaking of the World. And him they named Dragon.

Yeah sometimes the words won't come. But you know what they say. The cow won't get eaten unless you sleep with the cat.

Maybe you should follow Recon's advice.

I was young, I was surviving the times. Waiting for my moment I was destined to shine. And I seized it!

Today I learned in my psych lecture that some people suffering from schizo make word salad...

Not saying you're schizo, just making a connection.

To answer you're question, I always have coherent responses. See above.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Yeah, I get that a lot. Can't say how to overcome it, though. It's an ancient Chinese secret. I kid, I honestly don't know.

  • 10.25.2011 5:37 PM PDT

I get that a lot, especially when creating a thread.
