The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Title for Reference.

So last night I finally got a chance of watching the classic terror movie ''The Thing''. I really liked the movie, the special effects were awesome, even accounting on how old the movie is.

Anyways, when they started saying that The Thing assimilates it's victims and pretty much turns into them, to allow them to take over more bodies, the Flood obviously came into mind. Both have cells that overtake regular cells and transform them and that allows them to confuse other cells and lure them into the trap, and so on. This reminded me of the Flood Super Cell. There was also a part in the movie where it said, based of a computers calculations, that if allowed to escape, The Thing would infect the planet in 27.000 hours. Once again, the Flood came to mind. On another scene, we see parts of The Thing being changed on the fly to suit it's current needs, yet again, the Flood came to mind.

So, has Bungie ever said the Flood was influenced by The Thing, or is this just pure coincidence? I find the similarities to be too alike.

Anyways, for those of you who havent seen it, I heavily recommend the movie. It was fantastic. And there is a prequel that came out not that long ago. Watch it if you havent, seriously, you'll like it.

Discuss.

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

The thing, little shop of horrors, aliens, starwars, star trek, and other moves far before my time are what influence everything in sc-fi as of now.

and from the computer quote i am assuming you watch (what is considered) the "original" the thing not the current prequel?

If so good and what the prequel.

I don't think Bungie has ever stated that the Thing was an influence, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was, even if it was a subconscious influence, considering how phenomenal that film is.

No, I watched the original The Thing.

I imagine the prequel follows the Norwegians that first found the thing and got killed by it in their camp. And at the end of it, it should show how the original starts.
