Subject: 343 HAS GONE FULL RETARD:HALO GLASSLANDS SPOILERS.

Just remembered something. How is Halsey alive after being punched by a Spartan-3?

EDIT: after reading the comment on the page before this one (was too lazy to scroll through 3 pages before posting....) I'd still have some doubts about the book and the drama being forced upon Halo by Traviss. At least it looks less facepalimingly stupid than what the OP stated was going on.

Still not have the urge to buy the book soon, but I take back my uber negative comment of a few minutes ago lol.

All the back stabbing, outing of secret info, characters acting completely different from what we're used to, trying to kill their allies out of paranoia, of all the dumb things to do after surviving near extinction.

What do you think happens after any major war? At end of WW2, U.S. and Russia became future enemies which lead to future conflicts. The splitting up of territories by both sides, Israel declared a country in the mid-east after splitting up all the German controlled land.

Of course a major war that almost destroyed mankind would change at lot of things. Things can't go back to the same.

True. But everything in the book feels like it's happening too soon, especially since both sides are so weakened and the Human-Covenant War literally just ended. I would expect Humans and Elites to rebuild and re-arm for at least a few years before trying to fight each other again, especially after the massive loses both sides took during the war.

Too soon? The pace seems just about right. Just because the sides are weakened doesn't mean that they won't consider contingency plans to finish off the other side and be king of the hill.

Ultimately criticism and support will be reliant on how people's expectations came through for them. In this case your disappointment in pace stems from the expectation of years of inactive hostility while the races recuperate for whatever reason that may be. Inversely my acceptance of the pacing stems from the expectation that just because the official standpoint is peace does not mean that plans are not in place for a given nation to stand at the top in the end. For me there's precedence in actual history for such things to occur, in particular Operation: Unthinkable pops in my mind right away there though there's much more examples out there.

Well this is the universe forum, what do you expect from most people in it?

The book is an absolutely amazing read. It's really well written.

There are several brute and elite factions. Some brutes are on the sangheili side, others aren't. Nothing hard to get.
She certainly gives a lot of real-feeling to the characters.
