Fun fact: UT '99 is still kicking strong.Fun Fact: Quake II has a higher population than Quake IV. To add to that, Quake III Arena has 5 times that. Funny thing is, out of those three games, Quake III Arena is the only one to offer a free alternative version. (Quake Live)
Point: PC gamers aren't as shallow as they're made out to be. While we're in love with our graphics (Trust me, we are) we're more in love with the actual gameplay. If we find a game we like we'll play it until the servers go down 15 years later. We won't just play the newer game because it's new, we'll play a game because it's better. While console players think they have to live with whatever new game they're given, we don't stand for it. We play what we like and aren't mindless drones to gaming companies.
It's quite possible that there is nothing truer on all of B.net than this post.
Ya, this.
Hell, I still play Star Wars Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy. (yes I am a nerd) The only thing keeping those games alive is mods (Jedi Academy is basicly the "Gmod of Star Wars") and the epic gameplay. About 100-200 people are on them all time.
Years ago I was playing those games on the first Xbox with that fatass controller. Now Im playing them on the PC in 1080p with a mouse and keybaord. Its just as fun if not more.
Never owned Quake though. I have played the 2nd and 3rd ones at my friend's house. Old, but epic.
