What actually transpires beneath the veil of an event horizon? Decent people shouldn't think too much about that.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

I dunno.

I dunno.
That is up to opinion really... I don't think it's dead... more like deathly ill...

It's zombiefied, the general public says its dead however the current players just keep on playing until their brains get smashed at one point.
So asking: "is it dead?" is not the question here.
The question is if you wanna play with the rest of us zombies.

Forget what I said, that's a much better interpretation.

i want to get halo ce for computer just so i can play online so if its dead im very sad face.

Of course it is, for a game that's 10 years old AND for the PC, the community is in great shape. As long as you can find even ONE game with not a lot of lag and a good base of players, I say the game is alive and well. I love Halo 1.

AND for the PC
I don't get what you mean by this. I think you're trying to infer that PC games have less people playing them over time, in which case is not true in the least. Console games burn bright and burn fast whereas PC games are steady flames that dim ever so slowly.

(Aka: Console games are filled to the brim the first year or so then they're a ghost town whereas PC games can have a good community around them for a decade. It's actually quite common.)

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

Fun fact: UT '99 is still kicking strong.

This kid keeps trying to get me to play Quake 3 Arena. But I prefer UT 99 if I had to choose between those two. Halo still consistantly has many games to chose from. And new mods are constantly being developed so even if you don't enjoy MP for some reason just download the CMT campaign mod.

Fun Fact: Quake II has a higher population than Quake IV. To add to that, Quake III Arena has 5 times that. Funny thing is, out of those three games, Quake III Arena is the only one to offer a free alternative version. (Quake Live)

Point: PC gamers aren't as shallow as they're made out to be. While we're in love with our graphics (Trust me, we are) we're more in love with the actual gameplay. If we find a game we like we'll play it until the servers go down 15 years later. We won't just play the newer game because it's new, we'll play a game because it's better. While console players think they have to live with whatever new game they're given, we don't stand for it. We play what we like and aren't mindless drones to gaming companies.

Ya, this.

Hell, I still play Star Wars Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy. (yes I am a nerd) The only thing keeping those games alive is mods (Jedi Academy is basicly the "Gmod of Star Wars") and the epic gameplay. About 100-200 people are on them all time.

Years ago I was playing those games on the first Xbox with that fatass controller. Now Im playing them on the PC in 1080p with a mouse and keybaord. Its just as fun if not more.

Never owned Quake though. I have played the 2nd and 3rd ones at my friend's house. Old, but epic.

...Or has it died?

The reports of Halo Custom Edition's death have been greatly exaggerated. We still have over 15,000GB and over 300,000 files a month in downloads for maps and the game and there are over 300 servers in the server list These number have remained fairly constant since the game was released and HaloMaps.org was started.

But since logic or statistics have no purpose in questions of these types I'll just answer you by saying: No it is not dead.

  • 11.01.2011 10:14 PM PDT

SonyoBonyo

Nah man, it's still alive, not as much as 3 or Reach (of course) but theres plenty of servers up, you just have to avoid a view mod-whores.
