Agreed. All the changes are good and add variety. Do we really want another Halo 3? Just running around with one gun and no armor abilities? It's good that 343 wants to try something new. Do we really want the same thing for three more games?

It's failing, and the TU won't do much in terms of bringing the population back.

At this point, Reach has less players online in the last 24 hours than Halo 3 had at one time at its peak.

This. I'm very reluctant to trust that 343i can fix it. I'm not really bothering with Halo CEA. If I hear good things about it I may buy it, but I no longer trust that just because a title has Halo in it I can expect a decent product (I know, I was a fanboy).

I'm sure 343i will do a good job of fixing it, it's just that the majority of the fanbase has already gone to other games.

My pen1s ia weeping

The addition of AA's added baggage to a game that was already slowed down due to a number of reasons.

today's gamers are all about fast gameplay....halo reach fails at that.

  • 10.28.2011 7:51 AM PDT

A year later versus Black Ops, Crysis 2, Battlefield 3, Gears 3, Rage, and others and Reach is still one of the top played games. I think that says a lot for the game.

I know the community hates on the game a lot, but Reach allows for tons of different playstyles which can suit all styles of gameplay. The TU only added to that by allowing for more traditional gameplay. Reach's survival amongst all the other top tier games this year shows it as not only a played game, but a good one as well.

I have liked Reach every step of the way, and its continued existance among the top played games shows others do as well, and it's liked by more than just casuals (seeing as how casuals would have moved on to the other games by now).

AA's are also a big part of skill-gap reducing BS that happens in this game

I can't say I share your faith in 343i. Right now I haven't seen anything from them to convince me they will improve the Halo series. I'll wait with an open mind but I no longer give the Halo series the benefit of the doubt I used to.

If the CEA maps have no frame rate issues, that's already an improvement over Bungie, to be honest.

Do you know who made the defiant map pack by any chance? They have had without a doubt the worst frame rate issues I have had in any maps on Reach.

I heard it was 343 but I am not really sure.

It was? I was hearing other company names, but I have no idea myself either.

Quick Google search

Apparently it was Certain Affinity in partnership with 343i, not looking good.

even though halo cea will bring a bunch of gamers back to matchmaking im interested in seeing how many stay after they expirence halo reach's other "enhancements" to the gameplay.

i.e the pistol, needle rifle, ect.

anyways its a great game and I dont want to complain too much...seriously they redid the graphics for a 10 year old game and brought back online matchmaking......and made it under $40......im going to get it just for the campaign

  • 10.28.2011 8:04 AM PDT

reach is doing fine and even if its failing (however it is not)TU actually IS doing a lot to bring other gamers to play halo reach it is not bringing back the population BACK because no one LEFT

Bad.

Pretty much the people that are left are even playing other games. Halo Reach is what number 5 or 6 now it will fall off of the charts after this year. One day Halo 3's population was higher than Halo Reach isn't that sad?

To much to fix, the only hope 343 has is when the next Halo game comes out, it removes itself from the Reach structure of gameplay.

CE won't be very popular as many of the hardcore CE fans, HATE it's playing on the Reach engine. They won't return of this game. For me, it's $40 for maps, so I won't be purchasing it. I own CE already, I know the campaign already.

Time will tell but we'll have to wait for the next game, after CEA. I have still have my hopes up, because they did polish the hell out of this turd of a game.
