I loved Reach, but when Bungie left, so did I for the most part. Anyone who thought the title update would do anything for bringing people back, were dead wrong. In-fact (as I believed ever sense hearing about the title update) the TU actually drove away people. (in addition to the blockbuster games coming out this fall).
While I could care less for the whole CEA idea, my hope was that at least one map that came with CEA would be another "Forge World" type map. So far, it seems the forge community (one of the communities that help halo thrive when modding was no longer possible) has been forgotten.
All I see CEA now, is just an overglorified $40 map pack with a game that I can already play on my xbox, as I still own H1. Sure, the new overlay engine is nice, but it isnt a true remake of H1, and its not doing justice to such a great series. Just as ODST was an obvious ploy to keep people around until Reach came out, CEA is the same concept. The difference between ODST and CEA, is that everyone elses attention has focused to other different major franchises.
Its sad to see Reach die after a years run, but thats what happens in today's market. And so far, 343 studios dont really seem to be helping the halo community, but rather feeding on whats left of its momentum.
Halo 4 will sell well, but I think the Halo series has already reached its peak, and is now on the downside. Perhaps 343 can prove me wrong, and actually keep the Halo series running well. But as of right now, I am skeptical of that happening.
All the power to 343 doing well, but until they have proved themselves (with Halo 4), I believe they may very well die with the relic known as Halo.
