So the DMR would be effective at long range and mid range, but fail in close range.

Another thing... why do all these futuristic weapons suck so bad? it's suppose to be like.... 2000 years in the future right? Why is he still using a freaking pump shotgun?
Or a one shot grenade launcher.
We have things these days that trump both of those without even trying.

And sooner or later there will be a firing switch or whatever it's called on the rifles, to switch from single shot to fully auto so you don't freaking need 2 different rifles when one good one would do the job.

If Ss called "weapon balance'

Agreed. All the changes are good and add variety. Do we really want another Halo 3? Just running around with one gun and no armor abilities? It's good that 343 wants to try something new. Do we really want the same thing for three more games?

Bungie is getting old. He was senile when he made Reach.

  • 10.29.2011 4:36 PM PDT

Why do so many people hate? I mean all bungie wanted to do was try something new, which apparently didn't work well with the community. And it's been a year and you guys still complain. I mean they gave you game with a sick map editor and some cool armor and you still whine about bloom and armor lock. Seriously chill out and stop making useless post about the same (manur) over and over again. We get now stop.

"Wake me...when you need me."

It keeps trigger spammers from appearing to have more skill than they do. The only people upset with bloom are the ones who panic. The only people asking for bloom to be removed from Reach are panic patrol and people who JUST got beat down, decided to get on the forum and then made a thread to complain about it instead of spending that time learning how to PACE your shots.

ZB will be just like the BR. Panicy little noobs will use it to nullify all weapons in the game and go "SHOOT SHOOT OH SHOOT OH OH OH SHOOT!!!" as soon as they see an enemy. They will then get lucky roughly half the time and it will make them feel better about their meager Halo skills.

They come on to these forums and complain about bloom using terminology they don't understand, nomenclature that heard in a Youtube video and ill-conceived ideas they heard from other people who panic when the get into a firefight.

It's the same kids (yes kids) who RAILED against Armor Lock because they had not the wit to counteract it. They got owned by someone with patience, got upset, and came to the forums to RAIL against Armor Lock.

Bloom is the same. The people hating on it are children who can't learn to calm themselves (at least some of the time) in order to pace their shots. They are also the same little person who yells into the mic.

Halo is what it is. The player base is what it is. The loud, immature children will always make the most noise and get the most results post launch.

You're a fat elephant guy whining about kids whining.
That's freaking funny.

Bloom does suck though.
seriously.
I don't want it gone, I want it fixed so when the bloom is actually all the way out I can't simply just pull the trigger and still get a headshot magically half of the time.

It's like the consistency of the weapon isn't what the bloom says it is.
idk maybe I am whining about it, but I still think it needs looked into a bit more. Everything else has been overhauled, even the levels themselves, armor abilities.

Have they put out any patch that fixed anything to do with bloom or weapons yet?

I'm generally asking, I'm new so Idk.

-blam!- Reach.

I wish Shishka were here. But I'll just steal his quote again:
"Cry more. Your tears are like candy"

OT: In my opinion, Reach is not the best Halo game (I preferred Halo CE), but it is still an okay FPS none the less. It still has relatively high numbers playing matchmaking (on the matchmaking leader boards) which indicates it appeals to quite a few people.

We all know that change is something the Halo community doesn't take to kindly too. Heck I even remember people creating threads stating "-blam!- Halo 3" where the forum would make as many complaint threads as this forum is right now (and has been for the past 12 months).

In regards to Armour Lock and Bloom, they may not have been the best intentions or put ins in gameplay, but many of us have still hung around (unless, of cause, you don't play the game and come here to solely complain, which would be pretty odd). I don't care what people feel about these mechanics as their opinion is as valid as is anyone else's.

I wager quite a bit that, when Halo 4 comes out, people will begin complaining and comparing it to Halo Reach (much like people compared Halo Reach to Halo 3, Halo 3 to Halo 2 and so on...)

Bloom was brought in spacificly to slow down gameplay and make the game easier for the casual audience.

His point is that it works in the opposite direction as intended - because of bloom only mid-long range kills are slowed down. At close range you just fire as fast as possible and will still land your shots.

By bringing forth inconsistency? Yes, infallible logic. It's as if you skipped over the OP completely. Recoil and bloom have the same goal, but while bloom only fulfills its goal inconsistently, recoil fulfills it 100% of the time.

Oh, really? Let's take a look at this.
First note: "Last played October 18th"
Second: "Victory Streak -- 25"

Obviously this is an act of impulse from rage due to my inability to adapt, seeing as I've very recently played this game and very recently lost. (The italicized is sarcasm, by the way.)

...instead of spending that time learning how to PACE your shots.
God, are you really that ignorant to what's being complained about here? I know how to pace my shots. Everyone knows how to pace their shots; it isn't very hard at all. In fact, my 96 year-old grandma could learn how to effectively pace her shots with due time. The problem is this. If you don't see a problem with this, you honestly should probably just stop right now because you have no grasp of the game, but to be fair, I'll outline the problem: You don't have to pace. Spamming can and will net you undeserved kills, and in a very inconsistent manner.

ZB will be just like the BR.
First off, your use of future-tense leads me to believe that you are unaware that ZB already exists in Reach. Secondly, no, it's actually nothing like the BR, Halo 3's or Halo 2's. A single-shot weapon with zero recoil and an extremely fast RoF, shot against enemies with an extremely low movement acceleration, is nothing like the BR.

Oh, God, someone is still defending that abomination? Isn't it ironic that those who complain about it are statistically the best? Nah. I also like how you used the word "counteract," implying that there is a way to counteract Armor Lock -- well, at least was; 343 has proven competence by actually providing somewhat of a counter against it. I also like how the basis of your claims and logic is basically "people are bad and they can't adapt." No, seriously, that's basically your entire argument all of the time, and it's funny because you don't hold true to it; you're horrible and cannot adapt.

So, it's really funny because, first off, your argument is based off of retarded standards, and yet you even break said standards. It's really quality stuff.

There's that quality logic, once again. You do realize that there are dozens of older players as well who show complete and utter disdain toward bloom? What a totally uneducated generalization.

you guys, bloom is broke. its not rocket science. reach suffers from lack of skillgap. i used to get about 25 kills a game in multi team in Halo 3, and multi team in Reach is just...disgraceful.

  • 10.29.2011 7:44 PM PDT

"I'm not going to lie to you, Lieutenant. You're stepping into some dangerous shoes the rest of the squad would rather leave unfilled. Me, I'm just happy to have Noble back up to full strength. I read your files, even the parts ONI didn't want me to see. I'm glad to have you're skill set. But we're a team. That lone wolf stuff, it stays behind. Got it?" "Yes, sir." "WELCOME TO REACH."

O.o English please?

That can't possibly be his point. This thread is about why the concept of Bloom was put into Halo: Reach, regardless of how well it fulfilled that purpose. So he's saying that reticule Bloom is there specifically so the DMR can dominate close range. That is stupid.

If you like Armor Lock, you are a troll.

It was put in for the exact same reason the BR spread was, to slow down kill times at long range and force the headshot weapon into a "niche". Bungie never understood how Halo worked, and that you needed to spawn with an all purpose utility weapon to make the game play correctly.
