I don't care what you do, just shut up and drive!

Is there going to be a Beta?

  • 10.29.2011 10:09 AM PDT

It's not camping, it's holding the designated location.

Yes. It's called Halo: Combat Evolved for Xbox.

Winner of the 2012 Lurker of the Year award.

I'm watching you.

No, why would they need to test anything? All they've done is add a new graphics layer to a game that is 10 years old. It would be a massive waste of time and money, not to mention completely pointless to have a beta.

You have to be, I'm trying to save your intelligence here because you just asked a very moronic question, I'm afraid.

What is there to beta test? It's the EXACT SAME GAME as CE with new graphics/Terminals/skulls, then there's the maps which are also built in the same fashion as they were 10 years ago. There's no need to beta test the maps because everyone already knows how they play, 343 will have tested them themselves, and the TU beta is up on Reach now.

The game went gold like 2 weeks ago, a beta happens when a game is in beta stage (e.g. about 4 months before release).

You should be asking about a Demo. They had one for Halo PC but none for Halo for Xbox. Silent Cartographer (PoA too) would be the ideal demo level. Hopefully, if they release a demo for CEA, they include that advertisement where Sarge tells you to buy 2, with updated graphics and the option to skip it.

I just wanted something because, sadly, I was only 5 when Halo CE was released. I haven't played it yet because the graphics compared to now SUCK.

And it seems that you've retained the mentality of a 5 year old by saying this...

I am a pharmaceutical scientist. I received my Masters degree in Pharmaceutics from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia in 2010, after working as a Pharmacist for 4 years. I currently work in King of Prussia, PA, and focus on the analytical chemistry of small molecule APIs. My clients include some of the most well known big pharma companies in the world.

I was 15 when I picked up CE on release day. I remember being absolutely blown away by the graphics at this time. 10 years later, I'm still amazed with what was the best campaign I've ever played in any shooter.

I lol'd at the fact you actually remember that.

CE holds a special place in our hearts.

I can recall unwrapping the game on Christmas morning. I still remember the exact checkpoint I had to stop at so my family and I could leave to go to my grandmother's house - Pillar of Autumn, the window looking out upon the lifeboats being destroyed as they ejected from their pods.

10 years feels like yesterday.

Betas are designed to test multiplayer functions typically.

That "something" you wanted is the game itself. The purpose of a public beta isn't to stand in for a finished game.

Also, Halo 1's original aesthetic is amazing. Heck, the aesthetics of a lot of games made in that time period are amazing; at that point, they had powerful enough visuals to get a decent 3d environment, but not powerful enough to allow for a whole lot of clutter, so the visual designers had to resort to iconic simple geometries and colour schema. The results are incredible.
It must suck to not be able to acclimate to those styles.

Lolno.

Graphics are pretty decent. Hell, I still have no problem playing through the campaign on my Xbox.
