I'm trying to become an '04, but it's not working too well."

Link-a-dink -quote can be found in the last 'topic' of the article-
But Bungie.net is already that platform for us. We're gonna start that and expand on that. It's not going to be just a stats and leaderboard service. We have a lot of ideas of how to make it into a social network. And I think it's really important that Bungie fans and players are able to find each other and play with each other bring their friends into it.

When i think social network, i think facebook.

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

I have seen social network type things on forums that aren't too facebookish.

Like leaving a public message on a persons profile.

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

This is true; hopefully user picture uploads (lol) and status updates got the boot right out of the gate.

I understand nothing because my life is a conspiracy.

Bungie's got to top Battlelog.

Infection in Halo 3 isn't zombie killing; it's ethnic cleansing. Have you ever noticed that these "zombies" are just black Spartans?

Bungie.net Groups are already a social networking service. You join them to meet, interact and form relationships with people who share a similar interest or outlook. On the most basic level, that's what social networking is all about.

Look at Roosterteeth's website. Their member profiles have always been on the social networking side in terms of features (photo galleries, user comments, journals, etc.) and it all serves to enhance the community experience and elevate it beyond basic anonymous forums.

ISU Cyclones!

It's very interesting where Bungie could take Aerospace. Although with my lack of a smart-phone I hope that Bungie embraces the PC side of the indie devs so that I can actually try some of these games that they support.

-I love Bungie [7]-

I hope Bungie does not become a social networking site. I don't like social networks. To much invasion of privacy.

Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.
-TGP-

As long as they test the waters first. I don't want them throwing stuff at us without warning or having heard the general reaction to the idea first. If they're going to add new social features, it'd be best not to split the community with them.

It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

That was an extremely interesting article. It seems like Aerospace, in the future, will become a larger part of Bungie as a whole.

Whoo.

Oh god ...

Please no.

Adding certain features would be fine, but actually MAKING this a social networking site would be awful, yes people already use this site to socially network and yes social netowrking isn't bad, but when it's the primary goal of something or at least taken to the extent where it fits into that criteria it changes the whole feel.

It's like turning a bicycle into a tricycle, sure the extra stability is nice, but it's just so much lamer and less fun than the good ol' bicycle.

When you post, i get happy!

Bungie.net is already a social networking sort of site, like Butane pointed out. When reading the quote in the OP, i feel as if people are going to focus more on the social networking aspect of the site. This translates to me wondering if Bungie.net is going to evolve into something like facebook. Maybe not as hardcore in terms of adding 'friends', posting pictures.... but evolving to something used daily by hundreds of thousands of people as a way of connecting with people they actually know IRL, rather than hopping on facebook and such

You'll have your forums. You can also have a FEW social features that you may like. Those other ones that you don't like? Ignore them.

What could possibly destroy your forumgoing experience if they add more features in sections other than the one you already use. This is like if you're in High School and somewhere on the campus they add tennis courts to facilitate all the people who want to play Tennis on a team for your High School. Do you have to play tennis? No. Is this ruining your High School experience because other people can now play tennis, but you don't necessarily have to? No.

TL;DR If you don't like tennis, don't play tennis.

I would say I am one of the most successful trolls in Bungie.net history.

I honestly didn't think Bungie could create a more casual experience than Reach, I stand corrected.

I think social networking sites are "ok" but I don't participate in them. Gaming should focus on games and not a social experience, that's just my opinion. I come to this site to let out my inner nerd and not to socialize, nothing against anyone but that's how I look at it.

I reckon it'll be something like the 'Battlelog' for Battlefield 3.
