How do you feel Bungie executed city or urban environments into Halo 2? Do you feel that adding city like areas and maps toke away the "classic" Halo feel or added to the game? Were city environments too plentiful or did they lack well deserved appearances?

One game I'm not joking a little like 7 year old said and I quote " tell me what your dick looks like so I can imagine it in my head and beat off to it"

If Team Swat became ranked, would there still be no shields?

Amazing!

I thought their human environments, at least in MP, were great.

Turf, Headlong, Terminal, all excellent. I think they began to drop in Halo 3, too much clutter everywhere and they tried getting fancy placing objects all around the place (speaking for both SP and MP).

The only thing that took away the classic Halo feel was Reach. To be specific, I'm thinking of Exodus and New Alexandria. LNoS vaguely resembled CE missions.

In Halo 2 and ODST, there are Covenant elements, like the Scarab on Metropolis and that Covenant grav lift on Uplift Reserve. The Wraith mortars also add to the feel (I'm thinking of ONI Alpha Site, The Ark, and again Metropolis), something that Reach was lacking.

I would have to disagree with you on the Exodus part. Exodus had many things that added to the covenant invasion theme. Such as, but not limited to:
Exploding buildings
Corvette in the sky
Covenant vehicles (specifically the part when you rode the falcon above the coast line).

Reach also added something new that was only lightly explored before, and that was the human perspective. Such as overhead falcons, civilians and planes.

In H2 I wanted moa city environments. For xbox CMP, I love OS and Metropolis and we played many many hours of coop Legendary (still do once in a while). Working your way through city streets...FTW.

Just got done with a 3 day loop of CS,OS and Metro. Made me feel like I had just got Halo 2 again.

Ok, I admit I'm biased. I just don't like Reach.

Also, exploding buildings was a concept that should have been implemented better. I'm sure you've seen the deleted content from Reach. Wouldn't you agree that they look better than the current Reach?

Exploding buildings in Exodus was definitely underdone. You could look out of a window and see a wraith mortar hit it, and BAM, debris. I think that was the main reason that it went unnoticed to the majority, the animations were crap!

But yeah, when exploding buildings were on the drawing board they looked alot better. I wonder why bungie nerfed them so much.

Indeed, some of Reach's animations were flawed.

It's mostly the purplish explosions that get me. In H3, it was bluish and felt more Covenant.

I have two favorite levels on H2, Outskirts and Delta Halo. I was very happy to see house to house city combat, I enjoy playing those areas a ton. I think that Bungie did a nice job from the execution standpoint, the areas in outskirts felt realistic, all that was missing was the occassional rat scurrying around in Old Mombassa.

If they had just done another ring oriented campaign it would have been too familiar (read as boring). As much as I hate playing the Arbiter, the levels are different than just more running around on another ring trying to stop its activation.

I have not played any of the other games so all I can comment is the diff between CE and H2!

It's truly disappointing that rats appeared late, in H3's Sierra 117 and Crow's Nest. Outskirts could have used them. And maybe bats could have made an appearance.

I've been thinking of how wildlife could appear in Halo 2, and I actually think that stray dogs could work, if implemented well.

Well it's certainly possible now (and may have been in H2, given those weird Flood things in the tank on Oracle and flying birds on Delta Halo).

Yeah now that I think about it, it would work.

Probably would. But the question is; how well could they be implemented into the game? Would they be useless AI (moa and rats) or enemies (Such as the mule from Reach)?

Depends. If they're native to earth, the only dangers we might see are:

bears, raccoons

But otherwise... possibly dangerous.

I think a zoo might be a great setting as long as the animals aren't shot at by the Covies. Halo 3 ODST had a dead zebra IIRC.

Such a great idea like a zoo (with living animals) never crossed my mind. Imagine running through a deserted zoo with once captive bears, lions and gorillas trying to smash you open.

Great idea. Just too bad that 343i probably won't mess with any more human environments.

The mention of wildlife reminded me. Well, they had a Halo 2 level where Gravemind would try to smash you with his tentacles.

There's always a Halo 2 remake or a game like Halo 3: ODST.

In my opinion Reach was OK, but it was lacking in that you take fall damage and can't dual wield and stuff like that. I though the city maps were alright in Reach, New Alexandria was cool because you get to drive Pelican/Phantom. I though that was pretty cool.

Agreed.

There could have been much more free-roam to it. But instead it became a "Get from Point A to Point B by going this way" instead of "Get from Point A to Point B by finding where to go".

If OS and Metropolis had that, I would jizz. in. my. pants.

I loved them.
The hot red sky, the huge buildings, I loved them.
