If you were here a while ago you may have seen a thread made by me similar to this one. Since I've gotten back into forging Invasion I'd like to gather more community feedback in order to properly build. For instance, the community was initially opposed to the Banshee, which is why I am reluctant to place it on the map.

So without further ado, sound of your opinion on Bungie's style of Invasion (aka the one in matchmaking). What do you like? What don't you like? What would you like to see? Any opinion you have to offer helps. If you share, I promise to deliver Invasion maps of the highest caliber. Anything goes from loadouts to map design.

I don't find Bungie's invasion very much fun. I find it hard to say why, but I'll help you something that I find most annoying:

Many points on the maps are made useless. It's almost as if these spots are simply present to make the map appear on a grand scale. You could remove easily 30% of each map, and the gameplay would be basically the same.

Bungie's Invasion is very bland and grossly one sided for one team *cough*Spartans*cough*. Pretty bad when one whole half of a map is for one phase.

I only tested a handful of concepts and WIPs, but if you were to count the total number of attempts it'd be well into the 100s. ODST Invasion alone went through over 50 iterations. I gave up as soon as I saw the ODST-themed Headlong. Now I can't wait to do what I wanted to do without worrying about budget.

What would you like to see?


-Either shielded or unshielded vehicles for both sides.
Not in the current way it is where you can have some vehicles protected but have the other team's vehicles up for grabs by anyone.
AKA boneyard.

-More anti-vehicle weapons for elites.

-More spawning areas, especially in the 1st phase.

-Possible protected spawns or spawns slightly elevated from the battlefield a bit like the spire phase 1 for elites.
Less "right in the open" stuff.

-Deactivation of AAs when capturing objectives.
Nothing more annoying than a player ALing in the hill.

That's why I'm having both a DMR and NR loadout in the first phase. This way you can choose precision or go up into the action with your AR and Pistol. The whole point of loadouts is to support different playing styles. Invasion doesn't have to follow Bungie's progression system.

That brings up a another thing, I hate how all 3 maps (Spire, Breakpoint, and Boneyard) all use the same loadout progression. I mean, does Boneyard/Spire Phase 3 really need to be a huge AL and Shotty cluster-blam!-? AL+Shotty is fine on Breakpoint, but sure as hell not on Boneyard.

Duh, winning.

I don't like how it's so easy to get spawn-killed if more than two of your teammates quits. They need to fix that. And they need to make Invasion Slayer have more balanced weapons.

Plasma Launcher can't even touch a Sniper.

Or at least, your wingman quits. The PL only sucks against snipers if they're aiming for you. Tunnel vision means they don't see it coming from out of sight. But the Invasion Slayer loadouts suck. It's hardly fair the spartans spawning with pistols for long range, and the elites stuck with suckage repeaters and noobdlers.

I'd say my biggest issue with Invasion is the spawning locations. Both teams should have multiple safe spawn rooms on each phase. It's far too easy to spawn-trap in first phase, particularly with the weak loadouts.

Ohai, I'm Loscocco (pronounced Loss-cocoa). I'm a college student (computer science major), 3D animator, and long-time Halo player.

Many people like to have moments that almost feel cinematic aka: boarding a ship via mancannon, a wall getting bombed before your eyes at the end of a tier, etc... They like to see things evolve greatly: games start simplistic and turn into a war on a massive scale.

One map I can think of is Unbroken Sovereignty by Rifte Gifle, where people start out as a simple recon team in the cliffs, and advance into a ship as if you are playing Truth and Reconciliation on CE. Summit by MetaWaddleDee is another great example where there are moments such as when players take a dive off of a cliff to the next region when Tier 3 begins.



Those are just small things that really catch the audience's eye when looking at a map. In terms of gameplay:

-game is fair for both teams (durrr)
-the mission is able to be as accomplishable as it is defendable (this is where matchmaking invasion fails a bit: ex: boneyard invasion is insanely difficult to win by delivering the core)
-obviously nothing too overpowering
-weapons aren't too easy to steal from the opposing team (happens a lot with banshee, shotgun, sniper on Spire)



Just some personal pointers/opinions.

It would be sort of unfair if the other team couldn't access the banshee. Most people that aren't in a party have no clue how to use a falcon effectively (Falcons are awesome by the way) and half the time the guy with the rocket launcher is herpaderping on the top of the spire and dies.

On Boneyard, everybody can get the banshee.
Only spartans can use the safely stored away tank that can tkae out the banshee.
