Just a thought: maybe you could upload one of the old versions of this map to your File Share. Mention in the description that it is not the final product.
You would definately receive some ideas from other Forgers. Some might even work for your final version.

EDIT: Got a new layout; rebuilding map from scratch once again.

As new ideas come in, I have to sometimes go to extremes to fit the map.

Step 1: Add an Elephant.

Step 2: Use up all budget with complex structures.

Step 3: Delete important map geometry to fit in the scenery.

Step 4: ????

Step 5: Profit!


Pelican is much easier (and cooler) to forge

I think Invasion should be part of the BTB Play List.

Invasion requires another 2 maps at least.

Invasion Slayer, sucks for Elites due to their crappy weapons.

Invasion requires more Spawn Points to choose from. You should be able to select all spawn point locations from Start. Not just have the starting spawn point.

Spawn Points in Breakpoint, when defending, you sometimes can't choose the Sniper/Laser Spawn Area, This is unfair.

Spam is okay, as long as it is not excessive.
Retardation is frowned upon, but somewhat acceptable.

It needs more giant INV GATES explosions with all fusion coils possible and multiple vehicles. A must for any map.

What do you like?

1./
I'm a big fan of skirmish gametypes but the only problem with them is the spawn camping aspect. If you were going to forge this into a map please consider adding more spawn points for people playing skirmish or at least "protected" spawn points. Additionally, the third tier loadouts require thinking through...I only suggest this because I have never lost a skirmish game as my team all pick the grenade launcher and spam the spawns.

2./
I like boneyard for normal invasion...the only problem is the final tier. The spawns are rediculous and the heavy vehicles dont help on the liklihood of saving the core.

3./
I like invasion slayer gaametypes
I like the idea of normal invasion but the time spent walking is too high.

What don't you like?
1./
Heavy vehicles are very difficult to take out....especially when you spawn so far away. There needs to be a larger choice of spawns and more people available in a specific area in order to take out tanks and wraiths, etc.

What would you like to see?
1./
With regards to "proper" invasion I would like to see spawn points closer to the area of capture, or at least the ability to spawn on more then one team mate (2 fireteams as opposed to 3). This is because when I play these gametypes with my missus it is very hard to get her to sit back whilst I spawn on her...she then dies...which means i have to spawn right at the beginning of the map again (think spire or bonyard spawn points). The other option would be to move spawn points closer to the point of interest as the map opens up.

2./
I would also like to see an invasion map where the teams spawn opposite sides of a bridge. Not too large a map please

To me, Invasion is about the progression of gametypes. You start real basic. Infantry combat with assault rifles and pistols. Second stage is light vehicle combat and some rifle combat. The final stage is throw out the kitchen sink, all power weapons and heavy vehicles and aerial vehicles. I like that a single Invasion game can cover the spectrum of combat Halo has to offer.

It failed miserably because by phase 3 you were fighting guys with tanks and rockets with your plasma pistol.

HOW TO SOLVE SPIRE AND BONEYARD 3rd tier...

Spire: use a falcon to transport your guy down the spire go slow... and make sure its a friend in your falcon.


Boneyard: use a wraith or ghost as transport... skips all the lovely walks in the parks and last second snipes...

Well when I make Invasion maps (which i do a lot) I like making a scenario or base it on a story (Ex. Alpha Bridge from ODST). Then you find a great placement, maybe paradiso or alaska. You always want the spawning not to close to the objectifs. You should always add aesthetic details, like buildings, aircraft, ect... Then make sure its very interactive, maybe you can have a assault phase, where the attackers have to blow a bridge or wall. Use techniques like invasion gates, weapons, vehicles To make it look like their is blown up part or a whole with wreckage around it that will spawn with invasion weapons. After that add buildings. When u make the core spawn, make sure their is a building accompanying it. Don't leave it out in the open. Make sure their is not to many power weapons or vehicles. Lastly add cover for each phase. With what ever money u have left, add maybe lights or special effects,

Ps: If u do put a banshee, counter its super over power with either a rocket hog, a flacon, or for a huge map MAYBE A SCORPION. Be careful for putting Gauze hogs, scorpion and banshees. They cause many people to rage quit.

I don't really understand how Invasion Slayer or Invasion Skirmish work, so I wouldn't have known.

U can only have *1* label, u need to make it either invasion gates for it to de spawn at the phase u want it to. Then u need it to spawn at a certain phase so use invasion weapon or vehicle.
Remember that u only have ONE label.

right now the map is in the skybox. I'm thinking though that I should put a phase on the quarry. This way I save walls that I can use elsewhere.

I'm just trying to think of a transition. Only way I see it is if they destroy a door in the second phase. The thing I don't like about assault though is that the player can ride on the mongoose. Perhaps I'll just use reverse core to 'power on' the gate.

I'm a speed forger and I can construct what I see on paper or a photo very quickly. It's just tedious, and it kinda breaks my heart when a seemingly good design ends up flawed.

Right now spawning is still being an issue. Phase 1 Spartan Spawns are bad with my current design, and Elites don't have room to spawn for Phase 2 or 3. So I gotta redesign the whole thing again.

I think Bungie did a great job balancing Invasion except for the first tier. The attackers should always have a slight advantage. There is nothing that frustrates me more than ending an Invasion game early because my teammates "skunk" people, or I get "skunked" because I went in without any team mates. The best example of this is on Boneyard, where the Spartans have highground and can DMR Elites from afar.

I've got a few interesting surprises in store ;-)

But I'm in a dillemna right now. I keep running out of room to spawn people. I can leave it as-is and it'll play fine, but once people learn the spawn hives it'll be too easy to camp. So I'm trying to design phase 1 around a 'circular' system. This way you can't camp one spawn.

I want people to play the objectives!

I kinda turned it into my development blog, lol. I gonna make a new one when the map is finished. Hopefully I finish it today. Still working on a layout and I think I solved the spawning issue. Now let's hope I have enough budget.
