That's the issue though. Bungie dun herp derped things like AA's, loadouts, and Invasion, and people don't like them because of it. Loadouts are great for things like Invasion and Firefight, Invasion can be great if it has a good platform to play it on, and AA's would work well as pick ups.

Just please tell me it's more than: MOVE FROM POINT A TO POINT B OR C, MOVE FROM POINT B OR C TO POINT D OR E, MOVE FROM POINT B, C, D, OR E TO POINT F TO GRAB X AND BRING IT G.

The thing is though I keep changing the design. Like, as I'm typing right now I'm redrawing it again for the 5th time today. Yea, I built 4 maps today and now I'm on my 5th.

It has to be perfect, and It's still not there. I can build it how I want with 99 walls, but I want it in matchmaking and I want to avoid performance issues from too many walls. So the challenge is not only building within budget, but designing a budget-friendly map from the ground up. I'm sure if my forge buddies were still active they could have helped me with it.

All I need is the design and I can budget-crunch it from there. But I'm trying to design it while being budget conscious so I don't have to sacrifice something that I like when I'm finished.

Like right now I spent over an hour building a plaza and pelican, and now I gotta forget about all that and start from scratch. I have about 6 different versions in reserve that I'm currently switching back and forth between. Each has a unique problem. For example, the one before was too close to the out of bounds in the skybox, so I couldn't build tall structures or it'll be out of bounds when players stand there.

I really hope I can finish this before the weekend.

Yeah me too. Are you getting something about a certificate error? I would like to see the use of vehicles more, kind of like the rush on battlefield 3. That is the invasion I want to play.

That's not what I meant. You can change the type that is played in a phase all you want, but it comes down to how you play said type. The implementation of the Territories and Core on Boneyard make it rather dull to play, because it's so generic. Spire suffers less from this and Breakpoint even less, but they all both have some degree of being generic.

I'm just hoping that you won't make it that way.

To me, Invasion is about the progression of gametypes. You start real basic. Infantry combat with assault rifles and pistols. Second stage is light vehicle combat and some rifle combat. The final stage is throw out the kitchen sink, all power weapons and heavy vehicles and aerial vehicles. I like that a single Invasion game can cover the spectrum of combat Halo has to offer.


GodlyPerfection and I attempted to create an Invasion Slayer game called "attrition slayer", which reverse the progression. So in phase 1 you'd start with rockets, lasers, tanks, etc, and then as it went on your supplies would diminish

It failed miserably because by phase 3 you were fighting guys with tanks and rockets with your plasma pistol.

Why didn't the tank stop respawning after the phase change?


I don't really understand how Invasion Slayer or Invasion Skirmish work, so I wouldn't have known.


They stopped spawning but the last people on one team will get to keep their tanks and power weapons until they die

Could you not start off with the core, that way it could work very much like activating a switch that leads to a "gateway" opening.

I remember back in the day I made a map where a castle appeared in phase three...Only problem was I couldnt make a suitable gametype so gave up

Make a fairly larger map, or a more complex one unlike the current maps to be chosen. This could also provide more routes for assault, more routes to plan attacks, and less chance of the defending team getting an upper hand early on in the match (which can occasionally happen).

I have also heard of ways where you can use the bomb on assault to plant it on a circular location where you have to attack, which can blast open a door to a specific location to reach target #X (example here. This could make for some extremely fun games, where one team has a free chance to grab the location, but as soon as a new route is made available due to the explosive device, then things become more real. It also gives more team for the defending team to prepare themselves for a strategic defence of the next territory.

It would be also great to mix things up with the weapon and armour loadouts. A better way to make things fair, is to have random weapon and armour ability loadouts, such that there is no possible abuse of a weapon and/or AA. You spawn with a random weapon and AA, like anyone else, and have to make do with what you have, just like anyone else. It allows for change in assaults, as well as new weapon encounters by a player (which forces you to think on your feet a lot more).

If you are using vehicles, make sure only the specific team they are allocated to, can use them. This prevents completely unfair matches, if an opposing team manages to steal a banshee, or for a Tank.

I think this is extremely fun and new (especially with big parties), as well as this. Played them at a lan-party a while back and boy was the fun, lets just say, different.

I don't know how to help with that considering I have no visuals to base my suggestions off of, so I'll just say that you're going to have to do some advanced improv when it comes to using pieces for multiple tasks.

Phase 1 is officially complete. I'm going to 'transfer' it onto a version of phase 2 and 3 so I wont have to rebuild all that again.

It's gonna be sooooo fun! And I'm a 'pro' at substituting wall coliseums with things like Ramp XL's and Brace Larges.
